Anyone on a waiting list in the Hampshire area?0

Thanks Cap, Simon and Sammy. It seemed a bit odd to me that no-one else seemed to be applying for AA jobs but I suppose I won't find out until I speak to someone.
Linkster, I did phone Newcastle after my success letter to change the address of one of my references but was told told to ring back at the end of October as they would have a better idea of where they stood. This was before i'd read up-to-date on this thread and knew of the freeze, so I suppose it was a standard reply.0 -
Spoke to a lady today who told me that the DWP are 'currently reviewing their needs' regarding taking on employees & that we should all be receiving letters at the start of November as to where we stand. So whether we received successful letters or waiting list letters we are all on the waiting list for jobs which may or may not be available. So for all you good peeps out there who have DWP interviews lined up (as I do again!) you'd do worse than ask them what's going on (as I will again!). If you get a job with them then well done but if you're relying on them DON'T. Spend your time looking elsewhere for jobs where you find out within a week or so if you've been successful or otherwise. What a complete waste of time this organisation is!

This is terrible!! Not to mention the amount of money they have wasted on the recruitment process only not to recruit people who they said they would! I'm starting to really worry now. What area are you hoping to work in? I'm East of England. Can't believe you've been waiting since may. Any idea why this is?0 -

that is terrible this is really no joke. the best thing is they are still advertising for eo/ao jobs on the dwp website. what freeze surly they should stop at the beginning of the process if there is a freeze on. lets hope that the end of oct brings some good news to all waiting.0 -

I hope my BAD experience doesn't make you or anyone else worry too much. I would rather you keep your eyes open for other opportunities instead of putting all your eggs in one basket (with a big hole in the bottom). I've missed out on applying for other more 'suitable' jobs because I was under the false impression that the 'successful' letter meant I had actually been successful.
My area is London which seems notoriously slow for taking people on. I received a call at the end of July to tell me that I'd start in September & that I'd receive another call a week or so before then. I'm still waiting! I've called so many DWP numbers & spoken to so many DWP people I could start my own DWP telephone directory! All say the same thing (apart from the last one). All give me numbers which are never answered & just ring out etc etc...& can you believe it I'm going to another DWP interview next week even though I know what to look forward to. This one's being conducted by Manpower as the DWP are understaffed (sic!).
But like I said...don't let my BAD experience put you off, lol.0 -

Thanks for the info AOboy, not good news is it? thought i would have heard something from them by now, especially after the flurry of placements last week. The manager i spoke to said i would be starting end of August.. she didnt say what year though :rolleyes:Spoke to a lady today who told me that the DWP are 'currently reviewing their needs' regarding taking on employees & that we should all be receiving letters at the start of November as to where we stand.
