OMG everytime i look on here ppl are saying how many weeks training they have. Why have i only got a one day induction event. EEEEeeeeEEEek

I don't work in operations but I would imagine the training should be the same as devised by some policy maker in Head Office, perhaps its a case of different roles, not all roles will need lots of training and some will provide it on the job so to speak.

Anyone in West Yorkshire got the`call` recently?

I was told I had been passed to business the week before the freeze, no call.

I emailed them when I heared about the freeze, told the freeze was on and not to expect anything before end of Oct.

Hi, I was successful early August, all checks back etc, etc. Called regional recruitment today, and they could/would not update me any futher and would not even give a possible timeline when pause will be lifted.

However a friend of mine interviewed for AO late July and received the call the week before the freeze. He has been posted to Bradford job centre. I don't actually know of anyone who has been posted to Halifax, if anyone else has I would appreciate their story!

Did you apply for EO? and when? I have some real concerns the recent successful assessments may never get a post. I leave my present empolyer in less than two weeks due to all this. I am thinking of giving up on it all. All the recent successes give hope but I have no idea what to think anymore.

Yeah i imagine your right. Its quite funny actually cos today my lone parent advisor asked me if i had been told what role id be doing yet, and i just said that i thought AO's all doen the same thing lol. She said that in that office they have people who deal with lone parents, both at AO and EO level, people dealing with new benefit claims and job searches over the phone and face to face. Im slightly confused by it all but i guess i'll know more on my first day :) The manager who i spoke to today said i would only be having that one days induction event in dunfermline then "the fun begins" getting to know my role within the office. I guess by that she means its in house training. Im ok with that (as long as i do get trained to a level i feel comfy with) as it means i get to know my job whilst getting to know the people im working with all at once. Heres hoping anyway lol xx

I'm getting a bit worried about work clothes. As I never worked before (in an office environment), I obviously lack a set of formal clothes. I have my NRA evening clothes (that still fit o.o) and a few other shirts but nothing suitable for wearing on work days. I take it JCP automatically give you something called Job Grant which works out to be £100 for a single person which would really help out with the first month of work (I'm worried about that too as pay is not until the end of the last week of November in my case).

The initial feeling of excitement died down this week when I realised how much of a struggle the first month will be financially (although I am glad I am finally signing off). :(

Anyhows, well done to the latest people getting their starting date!

You can claim your working tax credits (if your entitled to them) from the day u start and they dont take long to process and u can ask for them weekly, so that could help a fair bit. Plus if you havent worked much in the last financial year u will get quite a high amount as its based on previous years income (nil in my case lol). Also i was told today by my lone parent advisor that they can help with clothing for starting work (as well as the job grant), ie, vouchers for certain shops, so its maybe worth asking someone at your local office.

I'm 21 yrs old so no hope of Working Tax credits, I'll ask my advisor next week when I sign on for the final time (yay!) but I'm not so sure they'll be so open. I'm at Working Links atm as a "leaver" so I don't go to my JCP office and go to their office instead.

Ahright :( Well hopefully you get some sort of help. Its hard enough starting a new job without worrying about how u will manage financially for the first month xx

Me too!! well done to you which is your local office

    Hi there!

I received my letter through today for the Shropshire, Herefordshire & Worcestershire roles. I'm on the waiting list (6 months) and having tried so hard to get a job over the past 5 months I'm literally over the moon at this!

My local office would be Market Drayton - but I also chose Telford, Whitchurch, & Shrewsbury.

    How about you?

    :)
