DWP employment waiting list

I know I`m probably being a pest here Venus but did you ask about your contract and how long you are expected to be employed cheers hun x0

I think its deffo a 18 month contract, everyone starting at the moment is put on one apparently. I think we may get taken on permanently after or there will be other jobs we can go for maybe internally. There is a 6 month probation and if you don't pass that there is a 3 month extra probation. The starting base pay has gone up to 15,400/15,600 or something like that ( can't remember...left my notes in the training room). So that is good!
Thanks Mandie.I am an AO indeed. Or a fortnightly job reviewer, as i will be more commonly known! Haha. It is not scary so far, but its only been the first day. There is A LOT of info that needs to be learned. So that's a bit daunting at first.

glad you had a good day venus. x0

Thats good then venus! The extra pay us good too haha, any extra is fine by me lol. Yeah i imagine it is a bit daunting. I was speaking to a friends husband the other day. His ex wife works at my local job centre and was started on an 18 month contract. Shes still there 15 years later so im happy to hear that too! He reckons the benefits of the job were great too so its all good! Just cant wait to get my start date now!0

Any ideas would be helpful - when I phoned DWP last (about 2 weeks ago) I was told my checks were cleared and had been passed on to business services. Do you think there is any point phoning DWP for an update? Once passed on to business services does the application leave DWPs hands?0

Mandie..i really hope you hear soon too! Hopefully we enjoy it, we can have the option of staying on. x
F.dennis, i think maybe sit tight and wait for a bit. Phoning them up again probably wont help things. Once your info is sent to the business area then you just have to wait till they sort out everyone into training groups etc. That's what we got told took the most time. Arranging training. I think if you were to ring up you would hear just the same thing as last time you phoned them. If there is a freeze and you are in that area then it may take a couple/few weeks extra anyway. Maybe leave it for a bit longer? I've heard that when your details have been passed on it is hard to find any numbers to ring up and find out anyway."You dont need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"0 -
venus_in_furs wrote: »Sammy...the person that didn't turn up was only notified a week or so ago like all of us, so must have been informed of their start date. So basically they are wasting a space someone else could have had. They should have said no to the start date or informed them when they changed their minds. I think its terrible they just didn't bother turning up!
Didn't mean to imply that I thought that was ok, completely agree with you, seriously though it happens a lot. Totally agree about the space being filled by someone else, if it was me I would be calling around to see who could start at short notice to fill that spot - now that would be a call and a half for someone!!"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -

Thanks I figured as much. Guess there isn't anything you can do but wait for 'the call'. It would just be nice to have a time frame lol - but they probably don't know themselves.0 -
Is your area not affected by the 'freeze' Venus?0

Mandie I started as a casual AA where you don't even have a time based contract, they can get rid of you at a days notice and I'm still there in one form or another 19yrs later - god I must be getting old!"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0
