I'm afraid you may have to wait a while. Those on the merit list get placed first and that in itself can take months. What area is IRC61298 for?

It is for London City & East(Poplar), Central London(Barnsbury), South London(Bromley), lambeth, Southwark & Wandsworth, North London(Edmonton), West London(Hammersmith).

Hopefully the process may be quicker for you then as London seems to be in great need of staff. I believe they are still advertising for other roles also. Fingers crossed!

Nope. I'm afraid all we can do is wait to receive a phone call telling us our start date. Unfortunately DWP don't seem to be able to give us a time frame for this.
  • When I did get through on the phone all the chap could tell me was "its looking good"......but that was before i read on here about recruitment freezing. I know what you mean about learning more on here fdennis, we are a little community of people with jobs but no jobs!...lol

LOL. I know, when people ask if i've got work yet I don't really know what to say. When I got the sucess letter I thought I definitely had a job and now I don't know what the hell is going on lol. I think the freeze may have been lifted now but it will still take a couple of weeks for them to sort everything out. A few people on this forum got 'the call' last week so hopefully we will hear something soon.
  • I do hope so,....I got made redundant in July, and thinking it might only take a few months I took a part time job in a kennels...just to work. To say Im tired of shovelling dog doo now would be an understatement, its annoying to think it could be after Christmas now. I cannot believe how disorganised the dwp seems to be. On their website it states that the process should only take 9 weeks!.....and have you noticed that they do not give you an email address on your letter to contact them, i guess its easier to ignore the phone....lol
  • ATTENTION ALL FIFERS!!!

Just spoke to Bill from JCP (think quite a few of you had phonecalls from him or Mary recently)

He gave me my position on the merit list (22? don't know if that's good or bad?) and he also said that contrary to my previous phonecall, they are looking to hear back about positions by THE END OF THIS WEEK and not the end of October as previously said.

Good luck everyone and I hope this is not more bullsh*t to try and hinder us pestering them!! He seemed a nice chappy though.

I just want to confirm the above as I also spoke to him earlier today. He was just waiting for a couple of bits of information to come through and it should be with him by the end of the week and thus will be in a better position to let us know.

Fingers crossed for a start date this side of Christmas if not hoping for a Happy New Year.
