  • Counterfeit...are you an EO? I think they get less training actually. It's more shadowing maybe? If not than that is hardly fair. Maybe they don't have any training facilities near you? I have to travel quite far to mine y'see.

I am an EO. I have to go 17 miles for my training :(

Hey yaaaaaaaaaaaaa'll! Just finished my first day. Twas okay! Lots of listening and a tiny bit of note making. Just went through stuff about the company, dress code and sickness and holiday entitlement etc. The man training us is really nice, reminds me of a character from 'The Office'! There was 8 in my group today, everyone is really really lovely. There was supposed to be 10 but one lad didn't bother turning up (what a waste of a training space!?) and the other person is coming in tomorrow as he has been on holiday. So all in all a million billion times less scary than i thought. Tomorrow is more listening about safety stuff etc. I think next week we are learning the computer systems, after our profiles have been added to the system. Hope that helps settle a few nerves for when any of you get your start dates. If you have any questions just ask. x

There you go! The first leap has been taken. You can congratuate yourself on that.

Leepy. Yes, most people are going to be working elsewhere. There is one woman who is staying in the office we are training at. In two weeks time i will have a 'day out' at my jobcentre to have a nose around and do some 'shadowing'. More nervous about that, as they will be the people i have to get on with.

Sammy...the person that didn't turn up was only notified a week or so ago like all of us, so must have been informed of their start date. So basically they are wasting a space someone else could have had. They should have said no to the start date or informed them when they changed their minds. I think its terrible they just didn't bother turning up!

Counterfeit....i suppose its good its only four days being that far away. Mine is quite far, but takes much longer on the bus in the mornings...queueing in the Mersey tunnel for 15 mins!

Hey Venus! I'm glad you got on o.k. Can I just ask what your time frame was for you application. i.e. when did you have your interview, success letter, etc?

    Thanks

There is a man i am training with who is going to be working in the same JC+ as me. So glad about that. He seems really nice. Everyone else in my group is really nice too, shame we aren't all working in the same office :(

I don't know if they do training differently around the UK but i am sure most people will have to go somewhere to train at least for a bit. They don't throw you in the deep end. When you do start at your job centre the man who is training me said it will start gently. You wont be expected to review 40 people a day or anything. Mostly watching and learning at first.

Applied in May/June (so long ago i can't remember!)...

Call about interview day: 17th July

    Interview: 31st July

    Success letter...11 August

CRB....beginning of Sept (although the actual CRB was dated from just after my success letter...so if you haven't received it yet, don't worry- it may already have been checked and processed - they have just been a bit late sending it you back)

    'The call'...28th September

    Start date...5th October...today :)

I'm down for St Andrews, Leven, Cupar and I've also said Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy. I'm down for EO position. Got through for AO position too, but haven't heard nothing about that one - got both disclosures through, but all phonecalls have been for EO position.

Never know, might be working along side of you soon - if what this chap's saying is correct!

Oh thats good then! Hopefully we will both hear soon! If the guy was correct then it may be sooner than we thought. Good luck! You do know if we end up in the same office im gonna be whispering to everyone "Are you VictoriaPlum from the forum?" LOL
