DWP employment waiting list

The DWP are at it again - I am so glad I already have a post.
This morning the postie delivered a CRB - it was a duplicate of one I have already received (I know this because the IRC number is in the address).
While I was sat reading through my DWP correspondence to check if it was a duplicate the phone rang. It was a nice (elderly) fella asking me if I could forward a copy of a CRB certificate for IRC 61412 as they hadn't received one.
And there I was sat there with two CRBs for that very IRC. Not only that but the compliment slip was signed by the bloke on the other end of the phone.
I feel so sorry for those of you out there still waiting, particularly those waiting as a result of gross incompetence.
While I was on the phone to him I asked him about postings and he said that my stuff would have been forwarded to local business in Halifax today if my CRB had been on file.
I guess that means people waiting for this IRC should be hearing fairly shortly.0 -

wxmlad...thank you! Just worried that because they are takings so many people on, once the recession starts to improve they cannot possibly keep everyone on? Just would be nice to have some kind of stability in my wonky, unstable life!!!
Jim, thanks also. I just with i could know the kinda time length i may be there, like with your letter....would hate to be there for a couple of months than get chucked out! Especially with spending the last few months fraught with tension!!
Oh and someone asked about travel...yes they pay travel, something like 40p per mile. You can also get lunch tokens for a few quid.
Sarny...dwp stands for 'the department of work and pensions'"You dont need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"0 -

That's the way I'm looking at it too. If and when they finally take me on I can get out of debt fairly quickly and then look at where my life goes from there. If it's with the DWP then that'll be great but this demand won't last forever.0 -

Theres a lot going to be happening in BDC's soon, from what I've heard some BDC's are going to be contact centre's and others solely processing ( there a bit of both atm) , we've been told that they will be taking on more staff! It's all a bit hush hush atm, were expected to hear something very soon.
Once your in at the JC you can easily transfer or apply for jobs at the BDC, so you could do that, like its been said once you've got your foot in the door and had training you'll stand in a better position

It's true but I would say that staff turnover is quite high so once you are in you should be able to look internally for vacancies. If you are any good they will (should) be more likely to take you on permanently than spend on future recruitment.
Also, I looked earlier at the websites for Shaw Trust and A4E. One of them had several vacancies around your area for experienced people (which you will be in a few months).
I'm actually looking at the 18 months as a chance to see whether I like it or not. Then I can decide whether to apply for a perm job. I have spent most of my career doing fraud work so I'm not sure whether it will suit me to be a personal advisor stuck to a desk job.0 -

.
Staff turn over in the south east is hugeeee for example, thats why a lot of processing work is exported to other offices outside the area. A friend of mine was an AO in the north west, transfered to an office just outside London and was a HEO within 2 years :rotfl:.
Theres loads of AO jobs not just the jobcentre, theres also
Jobseeker direct
Benefit Delivery Centres
Contact centres -where the initial claim is taken
District office- which is fraud, compliance etc0 -
Thanks again wxmlad and counterfeit...just been so hard being unemployed i'm terrified about it happening again!! I suppose it's my fault for studying a design subject in uni!! Doh!! At least after this i will have some decent experience to work on as i've just done admin stuff in the past.
Counterfeit...what's it like working in fraud?"You dont need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"0
