She said it would probably be Monday before i heard back. Anyway as my luck has it, i thought id nip out for shopping etc today as there would be no chance she'd phone today right? WRONG! Had an answer message when i got in saying the business had contacted her and she would like me to call her back asap. She mentioned she finished at 4 so it would be better if i could call before then, else i wouldnt get her til Tuesday. Bad thing is i didnt even get her message til half 4 when i got in. GRRR. So now i have to wait til Tuesday to see what shes found out lol
Bad Luck!!! Never mind, hopefully Tuesday will bring great news for you!;)0 -

Have you been chasing it up? Were you initially on a waiting list? It may be worthwhile sending an email to Louise Perry.0 -

Yes he said all have been cleared and sorry he said 26names in the first batch. What area of the southeast are you, which IRC and what no are u calling. My letter was dates Sept 02, 2009
I'm in Berkshire. My letter came in September. I gave up calling the number on the letter and used a number from on here. Lady said I was very high on 'the list' but nothing's happening until end of October. I have had the CRB and references done, but apparently the checks are still not complete.0 -

I think these are directed at never-in-doubt: What does the EO role actually involve day to day?
Depends on your 'specific' role. For instance you could be a PA (meaning front line JC staff doing interviews), or a manager of AO's in a benefit processing department or a decision maker or manager in quarry house equivalent (i.e. head or regional office) - it varies. You can move around once you're in, but usually if you got took on as a PA then you'd be going to the JC as front line. Benefit managers etc are usually advertised as that.It sounds like a junior management position from the website description & previous comments here, but they didn't go into much detail in the advert (which also mentioned some dealing with customers as well as managing teams of ppl) & the Capita people didn't know anything about it at the interview other than the list of 5 questions they had to ask! I'm not sure how much managing a team of people that signs on dole claimants needs? But if they want to pay me £20k to pad out the state bureaucracy I'm not going to stop them...
LOL, yea it is a junior manager - think like a team leader role. The HEO is the real manager in teams, so it doesn't mean that as an EO in front line (in a JC+) you could tell off an AO in a benefits office. Its the old ES vs SS ethos and there is a lot of bad blood *
You are, in all intent and pusposes a junior manager and can be drafted in (TDA'd) to another team at any time without notice as you'd be more experienced than most the AO's being you learn every benefit and process in your training, they do not.Roughly how long does the EO training last for & is it different to the training for other posts or is everyone lumped together before they get assigned to their various places? Do you state preferences for where you get posted during training?
Mine was a week but then you do on job modules and when you feel ready, they let you loose on a customer (the first is always daunting with your colleague watching you).... get that out the way then every so often you'll have to do them with your manager watching (usually an acting up EO but classed as a manager EO so not quite a HEO) and when you're proficeint you're left alone..... you also have to do it in the allocated timeframe (usually 40 mins)....
We used to have weekly tournaments and my record for a full back to work interview and JSA claim was 7 minutes from sitting down to going! LOL..... obviously, take away the job searches (i.e. a drug user or the likes) then you can do it in approx 3 mins! You'll figure out the repeat claimants and then you just pre-do the forms so they don;t stink you out for too long!
You'll love it - just go for it! If there are jobs going in management (EO) in the benefits office, they will be offered at training.....
* History Lesson: In the old days Employment Service (ES) were paid significantly more than their SS (Social Security) counterparts and there was a lot of in-house fighting and rivalry. At the birth of DWP the departments merged which meant merging grades so you may see an EO referred to as a Grade C (old ES management start scale) or as an EO. Similarly, a HEO may be a Grade D whereas a Head Of may be a Grade 7.2010 - year of the troll

counterfeit wrote: »Also, I looked earlier at the websites for Shaw Trust and A4E. One of them had several vacancies around your area for experienced people (which you will be in a few months).
As quoted earlier in the thread by myself, these are two companies that jump to get ex JC staff and they do pay more. Thing is you actually spend a lot of time dealing with your old colleagues anyway but for a couple of grand more. Obviously, A4E specifically helps long term unemployed whilst shaw trust aims to help people with disabilities into work.
I have also worked for both these companies (in senior management) and I would pro actively seek ex JC staff because once you are proficient, you're very valuable and you can haggle wages with 3rd party providers! I interviewed a PA once and he asked for £5k more than the advertised wage of c£23k - I gave him £27k then changed policy to pay that to all current serving JC+ workers due to their knowledge and contacts!
Suffice to say my northern region was inundated with applications from JC staff - we paid more, gave more and rewarded their loyalty.... but personally, I enjoyed my time in JC+ - was great and very fun atmosphere (laid back!)....2010 - year of the troll

Try not to feel too down about it, I was in exactly the same situation at one point (had my internet back in March, recieved a letter to say I was on a six month waiting list) however 4 months on from that I got the call & started work 2 weeks later! Being put on the waiting list doesn't mean you didn't do well, if that was the case you wouldn't have passed the interview at all, it just means that there were others who met the competancies more fully, maybe simply because of more experience in those areas. My advice would be to do like I did & keep looking at other positions in the meantime, that way when you do get the call it's a nice surprise
Thanks for replying to my post Bluefire...I have actually taken a Christmas job, as I was getting desperate, but I don't want to stay there, as it really isn't my cup of tea, although it is kind of nice being in a job where I don't have any pressures on me, or major responsibility with tight deadlines and reports to write...Basically I just do as I'm told go home and leave the job behind, the money isn't great but will help for Christmas, and it finishes on the 9th Jan so perhaps I may hear something by then, fingers crossed...
Thank you once again...:D0 -
