thanks. my family have said they will help but they have been so good i dont like asking again.

As far as I know, during your training you fill in a form claiming travelling expenses. It should then be in your account within a few days.
  • Update,
I have just spoken to New Castle who has confirmed that the "pause" has been lifted, the person I spoke with who is responsible for my IRC explained that one of the reason for the pause was due to the enormity of the recruitment as well as the long waiting period for some people, so they have had to be sorting out whether persons who were successful months ago but not placed would be still unemployed or interested.

He did say though that it will still take a week or two before anything starts to move for some people.

I am now very optimistic and can go sick in the sunshine on Brighton Beach>:j:j

I am looking for some advice. I have been offered a permanent position as an AO and my start date is at the end of October. I have just received a success letter for an EO position which is temporary for 18 months. At the interview I was told that the start date for this will be in about 6 months. So if I start as a permanent AO and then take the EO job when it comes up, will I remain as a permanent employee of the DWP and revert back to an AO after the 18 months?

Yes you will revert back to your Permanent AO position, this is the same situation as far existing members of staff that have applied for Fixed Term Contract jobs at a higher grade.

You also need to consider that the 18 month contract will be for up to 18 months (with an add on to say they can make you permanent) so definitely take the AO post, once a member of staff you can apply for an EO post internally if you wanted to.

Well, my success letter did not mention a waiting list....but the info i've just received about starting says: 'We offered you a place on our waiting list.' What? Maybe they put that to everyone, who knows?

bethel00- my letter doesnt say how long my contract is OR if its permanent? How was yours worded? Mine just said 'we offered you a full time Fixed Term position'. Not for how long or anything?

Fixed term means it is not permanent. I beleive all contracts being offered are for 18 months (because you have taken part in fair and open recruitment then you can be made permanent during this time if they require it.)

What a great feeling that is !!! I've done it today:rotfl:
  • Well I'm feeling down in the dumps, I have just received a letter, 2 weeks after my interview for EO in Nottingham, to tell me I was successful and am on a waiting list for 6 months.

I feel gutted, I assume that my interview didn't go very well and that they have filled the places with those that did well and those like me are on a waiting list... I thought it went well, but it shows you really can't tell...

I can't imagine I will be offered a job within six months, especially as it seems that those who are successful seem to take that long to get a position...

Just wanted to let it out, as I am feeling down in the dumps now..:-((

Hey Venue, just got my letter through - it reads the same at the beginning but does say "fixed term position up to 18months, as an EO for JCP+ starting Monday 19th October".

    Hope this helps
