Just had a call saying my CRB got sent back as as I left out a detail. Tsk. Do they only do checks once a vacancy arises? I forgot to ask.

They did all my pre recruitment checks, ie crb check, references and even contacted my current employer and i was still put on a waiting list so not really sure how the dwp works. Everyone's had different experiences though.

Just posted my CRB form today, hope I don't have too long to wait as other job offers keep turning up and I really want to work for DWP

I had the literacy/numeracy tests and then an interview at the Manchester City stadium on the week of the 23rd March where I also filled in the CRB forms etc (they appear to have streamlined the whole procedure and do it all in one hit now).

On the 20th April I received a letter saying I'd been successful in my application for an EO post and I was now on a 12 month waiting list.

This is very frustrating indeed - I'm from an IT background where you get offered jobs and start dates there and then in the interview; it's a total pain. A 12 month waiting list entry is no job offer at all :( . I just called Newcastle and the person on the phone there refused to tell me where I was on the waiting list - despite people on here being told this information. It's so annoying to still be looking for work despite having been "successful".
  • I still haven't heard anything, apparently just waiting for line manager to call with start date, but you can never be sure until you have a contract. Tried to call the recruitment co-ordinator yesterday to get a rough time scale as I have childminders etc waiting for my start date. She was in a meeting and I was told she'd call back. As usual, I didn't get a call back. VERY frustrating.

Well I sent in my application in January, had an interview in February, found out in March and am not going through health checks and just sent my CRB back...

I have been told two different people to send it too... I really hope both documents got through.

It is very frustrating (I'm in a job I can't stand and which pays very low, unsure as to whether I'll even be able to afford first month's travel towork if/when I get a job) and has seemed incredibly unprofessional.

However, I guess at the same time, it must be a huge exercise and I s'pose they're doing their best.

Good luck to ya though and congratulations.

Please does anyone know if you can find out your score on the
literacy and maths test as a friend has just failed and would like to know how they did in the tests. They know that the maths would have been good but failed on the literacy but they did think that they scored enough in that to pass to see if its worth trying again. Most people there seemed to have failed on the literacy test.

Oh Congrats!! Don't apologise for being happy!! I was so happy when I found out I was number 2 so I can just imagine how happy you are to be number 1. Did they disclose anything else like how long the waiting might be? Also which area did you apply?

What he said was they run an employment excercise for a department, go through initial filtering, literacy and numeracy tests and then interviews, Then everyone is put on a waiting list, the list is individual to the excercise number and lasts 12 months, they then pull people form the list to fill vacancies.

So I came 1st out of the 1000's that applied.
