I am so down. I got a letter dated 14th April saying that I would be offered a post if my background checks were satisfactory. I phoned Disclosure Scotland today and they have not yet received an application (I filled it in at the test day 28th March). Plus my references have not been contacted. I just feel so let down. They rushed through testing and interviews and yet now stall. Met someone who was at my test day on the 28th March at another round of interviews and she is in the same boat. They said they wanted the positions filled by the 30th April so I guess the letter saying I would be offered a post was just rubbish.

Don't worry abut it, This is how one of my applications went:

Sent off Application - Mid Jan
Sat tests and Interview - 1st - 2nd week of Feb
Received letter to say my checks were pending and have a max of 20 days: 20th Feb

Did not get my CRB form until 2 weeks ago!! and my referees are now only being contacted.

I was told at my interview that there was a march or june start so hopefully now I can get a position for June.

Just be patient I say and look for other positions
  • Hi, did anyone have an assessment centre day in Hull last Monday? I recieved a letter yesterday confirming that i have been successful for the post of EO, but im on a waiting list for 6 months! I rang Newcastle to see my place on the list and im number 39. Has anyone had an experience of being on the waiting list in such a position? Whats the likely hood of being offered a place within the 6 months? Any help would be greatly appreciated....

    Hi everyone,

I am so glad to have found this thread.. i was going so crazy over my application that I decided to search "DWP waiting list" in google and found you guys with the same issues.

I applied in the Essex area on 09/02/09
    then...
21/02/09 - Literacy and Numeracy Tests
    11/03/09 - Interview
29/03/09 - Letter confirming passed interviews. On 12 month waiting list
30/03/09 - Sent off all forms, CRB checks
12/04/09 - Phoned for update... CRB checks hadn't been sent off yet!
28/04/09 (Today) - CRB still pending.

In today's phone call i got a very nice man who said to count 20 days from about 14th April for CRB. When the form has been returned to me from DWP then expect 1-2 week wait for a phone call from vacancy holder.

Silly me forgot to ask where I was on waiting list but it sounded more reassuring and promising than all other phone calls with them that have involved a lady cutting me off the phone as quickly as possible!

So thanks to that call and you guys I now have a little faith that I will, one day, be working for DWP.

    :rotfl:

Just received a letter today to say that they are doing pre-employment checks. Hopefully that will mean there is a vacancy out there with my name on it. Wondering if anyone else that sat their tests in Lincoln at the end of March has had the same?

I also recieved my pre-employment checks letter today, it does state there is a post pending the checks on the letter.

    Congrats

I put down 4 different offices to work in so hopefully got my first choice. I am just so inpatient! Did you have your other interview for the other AO post you said you were going for?

I applied for a permanent EO position, in Hull. I did the tests and interview back in Feb, was successful and placed on a waiting list. I didn't ask my position on the list. Last week I got a copy of the CRB disclosure, then yesterday I got a phone call from the local job centre offering a fixed term position - until end Sept 2010. I have accepted this, and as I need only 1 week notice from my current job, I start next Tuesday! Then today another call from same lady, asking me my work background so they can start to put together my individual training package. Seems a strange way to recruit, and I still don't know what the job is exactly, only that its an EO position band c in the job centre.
