DWP employment waiting list

Hi guys,
Been reading the forum with interest. Have a couple of questions. I have my literacy and numeracy test this Saturday in Coventry. The letter states that i might have an interview the same day is this likely? I am going to prepare anyway but I would just like to know how many people were asked the same day for an interview.
I have lost my passport, but I have my birth certificate photo driving licence and counterpart - will this be an issue? that should prove who I am shouldn't it?
If i get an interview, are there just 4 questions asked? or should I prepare for more.
Thanks for your help in advance guys (getting a tad nervous now)
Yes, you should be interviewed the same day in Coventry if you pass the literacy and numeracy tests. Your birth certificate will be fine as proof of identity. You will be interviewed on the four questions as they cover the competencies they are looking for. You may end up talking about other things but you will be scored on your answers to those four questions. Good luck!Numpties...I'm surrounded by them...save me...:whistle:0 -
Just a small point but a birth cerificate in itself is not proof of identity as photograohic ID is also required. A photo driving licence is suitable for this. In the exercises I have ran candidates have not been accepted with birth certificates and we have asked for photo ID in the form of passports or driving licences. Where candidates could not supply this a photo signed on the back by eg a Doctor accompanied by a letter from the Doctor on headed notepaper confirming they know the person has been accepted.0

NorthLincs88 wrote: »Hi, I have recently just recieved my 'waiting list' letter, although it is only for 6 months! Sounds promising if the lady at dwp said you should get a job....they normally dont even give you that much information! Can I ask what position on the waiting list you started at?
could not be told out of how many but i was 4th from bottom and now i am 8th from bottom and there are only a few above me the lady was saying and most of them were internal candidates which some of them applied to different jobs promotion etc and were successful so they are getting removed from the list so hopefully i should here something soon fingers crossed did u ask what position you are if u know x0 -
would you also agree with me when I advise everyone not to take a bit of notice of what the DWP people say at test/interview as they make promises (e.g. you'll get your results in a week) and have no idea about the whole recruitment process and thus all these people start phoning saying "such and such told me I'd hear within a week!"
and people at the jobcentre - either they've worked there too long or cant remember the process as they tend to stretch the truth (diplomatic...) and give people false hope and tell them things that just arent true. e.g. written feedback at application level  (other than "you have failed")
and then theres the APPLICANTS who work at the jobcentre! they are even worse! "well my colleague told me he is top of your merit list and I want to know where I am and what I scored and when I'll get my job! and he said I can choose where I want to go and get feedback this minute and you'll fax me the result and tell me the result before anyone else!" Litrally have to keep my mouth zipped! as much as I want to help people I just think it's not worth having the phone going all day
and then theres the outside applicants "no I cannot start that day because I need to give 4 weeks notice" - yes but thats 5 weeks away?! "well I'm not handing my notice in yet because we're going on a works night out and I dont want to spoil it!" EH?! DO YOU NOT WANT A JOB?
- if I were doing the recruitment for my own company I'd say to this person - sod off! person below you is getting your job!
may just be me but i find myself flinching when i see people from my local jobcentre lmao! ARGH LEAVE ME ALONE!
oh yes and the most annoying one "im on a waiting list for 12 months... how long will that be then?"I dunno thats why I've put you on a waiting list for 12 months.... if i knew i'd have sent a letter saying i'll give you a job in september!
MY RULES FOR APPLYING FOR DWP
1 - THINK BEFORE YOU PICK UP THE PHONE! - do I know the answer to this question already? - have I already phoned 12 times this week?
2 - DON'T PHONE 2 SECONDS AFTER READING A REJECTION LETTER! - I don't really have the time to deal with you huffing and puffing because you've failed... calm down first.... then you may phone - if you HAVE to! (please see the first point if you DO have to phone...)
Hi Sigrid,
Just wondered if you could answer a question.
I was told that I am number 2 on the waiting list and that they are just waiting for start dates. However, I'm not sure if I'm number number 2 out of all that were successful or out of the remaining candidates after the immediate batch have been recruited. I can gather from a previous comment here by an employee of the DWP that it is only those who have no immediate positions that are put on a waiting list. I thought everyone is put on a waiting list with just the waiting times varying.0 -
At the moment, I am waiting for a letter confirming a phone call that I have a post. The letter (which I was told would arrive last Saturday) still hasn't arrived.
So..could the verbal advice be wrong,
or
Is it just a backlog and the phone call will soon be backed up with a letter?
Ive had a bit of a false start before about having a post so I don't know what to think.:idea:0 -

I think it varies depending who is running the recruitment as I was in the waiting list for less than a day0 -

Sorry, that was my mistake then posting a birth certificate was acceptable ID - they must have tightened up!
This is the biggest recruitment exercise ever run by DWP and each district is responsible for its own recruitment process, which is why it differs so much depending on where you live. The sheer number of candidates makes the organisational aspect a nightmare as there are so many factors involved - e.g. how may staff are available to do the interviewing and arranging training courses for successful candidates. The time scales are so tight which is why phone calls are flying fast and furious with written confirmation later. Plus there are only so many permanent posts as the others are fixed term contracts - but that can also depend on what office you are willing to work at!
What is ironic is that tens of thousand experienced staff were got rid of as part of efficiency savings and recruitment had been virtually non-existent - now they don't have the experience to run this kind of exercise. When new people start the job there are very few experienced staff around to support them and you will need to hit the ground running - Good Luck!Numpties...I'm surrounded by them...save me...:whistle:0 -
Hi Lilli2008 have you heard anything today? This waiting process gets to me from time to time, I feel positive one minute and then I get a niggly doubt that in actual fact I am living in a false hope of this job ever materialising. I have now been made redundant and when I went into the job centre one of the ladies started talking to me about recrutiment and I told her my position and she said that the branches in Cornwall are crying out for staff and it is the recruitment process that is holding them up, it is quite frustrating.0
-
I finally got my start date- 12th May. The lady said they are being held up as the recruitment team in Newcastle are absolutely swamped. I know that doesn't help the feeling of frustration for those waiting though.0

Hi Lauramichelle28 can I ask when you were interviewed etc and how long you have been waiting?0
