You have my sympathies- that sounds like a complete farce!

    Doesn't it just.

Anyway, congrats on your post, laura:beer:

lili2008 when I worked there you could not apply for more than one vacancy at a time and you were advised to apply for the highest grade as you could be considered for the lower grades if you were unsuccessful. It must be a nightmare for the HR staff trying to co-ordinating up to 9 applications for one person especially if they are in different districts which means different HR teams.

    Numpties...I'm surrounded by them...save me...

These days, all vacancies are treated as separate entities and anyone can apply for any of them. That's externally, anyway. There may be a different sustem for internal applicants.

But that's one of the points I was making. If I had confirmation of the EO post, I wouldn't still be applying left, right and centre. After the earlier confusion over the EO vacancies, I figured the scattergun approach was the safest. Yes, it must cause a nightmare workload, but that workload could be alleviated if people had confirmation of success quicker.

I opened that DWP letter this morning with a sigh of relief. Imagine my *surprise* when I realised what it was. I'm sure I felt a small vein burst somewhere.

I know what the changes are as I have several friends still there and I think you've done an amazing job of keeping track! I hope they get you sorted out soon and you don't have to wait much longer. All this juggling different tasks will stand you in good stead for when you start! ;)

;) Funny you should say that. If I have any more interviews I'm thinking of using this experience as an example.

I'm another still twiddling my thumbs waiting.

Had AO interview halfway through February. Filled out all the relevant forms there and then. Got successful pending on checks letter 13 March. Since then.... nothing. I rang them on Wednesday to find out if anything was happening - apparently the CRB checks haven't even been done yet!

I can't believe this. I'm behind on my rent and no way of clearing the arrears until I'm in work, and have been basically hanging on ever since the success letter. Every time I go to the Job Centre I'm asked why I haven't got a start date to work there yet (they're absolutely desperate and I was one of only a handful of people they see every week/fortnight who even got through the sift, let alone passed the tests and interview). I'm beginning to lose my patience somewhat - I just want to work now and start earning some money.

Since then I've also applied and had an interview for an EO role. Needless to say I've heard zilch so far.

I got in tonight and there was a message on my answering machine from the actual jobcentre I went for an interview with. It said this is ......from ............Jobcentre Plus and I am phoning about the recruitment excercise IRC............ you attended with us in March. Could you please phone me on ..........................
So not Newcastle but the actual jobcentre. So do you think it might actually be a job offer? If it is just some sort of survey I will be so upset. Trust it to be a bank holiday weekend. I will try in the morning and Monday but realise it may be Tuesday until I get through :o.
How did anyone who got a post actually get contacted?

Well, had a letter confirming I'd been successful in one of the AO interviews this morning.

Does anyone know if this will preclude the EO vacancy that I have been verbally offered? For obvious (financial) reasons I would rather have the elusive EO post.

Anyone able to tell me how you will be contacted about a job? I am going to go mad over the bank holiday weekend . The phone call gave nothing away.
