Just to clear up further confusion about the recruitment fiasco, I have just spoken to a number of people at employee services and contrary to some earlier rumours in this thread, there are no regions exempt from the freeze.

Seems like they are telling everyone different stories. Best to go along the line that there are no jobs ANYWHERE with DWP at the moment:confused:

Oh my, I've received an email this morning from Resourcing Customer Services. I understand they have to contact you within 7 days of making a complaint, but it goes to show they are not looking into every case individually, as I received this despite me getting the call the day after I sent the complaint (22nd).

Thank you for your email dated 21st September 2009 which I have been asked to respond to. I am sorry if you have encountered any difficulties in contacting Resourcing, we have recently been experiencing some telephony issues which we believe have now been rectified.

Following your application for employment with Jobcentre Plus, we wrote explaining pre-recruitment checks were currently being undertaken and that you would be contacted again, once these checks are completed to confirm whether or not we are able to offer you a position.

I am sorry that we have not been in touch regarding the progress of your application. Owning to the unprecedented levels of recruitment within Jobcentre Plus, they are currently reviewing their staffing position, and will be in touch once they have a firmer idea of future opportunities. We do not expect this to be before late October.

I understand that you will be disappointed by this news and appreciate that this is a very difficult time for anyone seeking employment. I regret that I cannot currently provide further information, however in the meantime please do not hesitate to contact me with any further enquiries.

If I hadn't received my start date already, I would have been furious to receive this email as it doesn't really answer my query (re: misplaced CRB, and people lower on the merit list receiving a start date prior to myself, etc...)

Good luck to all those applying for different jobs, wish you all the success!

Wouldnt risk it if you only have one teabag;)
  • Hi, great forum, again I wouldn't have known about the freeze if it were not for this site. I received my "congratulations" letter in August and my CRB check at the beginning of this month and have been waiting ever since for a start date. After finding this forum I decided to try and find out anything I could about the situation. I apologise in advance if what I am adding is nothing new!

I have an old friend from my RAF days who now works with the DWP so I contacted him and asked for any information he could provide me with. He forwarded my email to a guy in Blackburn who is the CCD co-ordinator for my IRC (Grimsby, Lincolnshire). This is what I received back from him this afternoon.

"As I'm sure ******* has already explained to you regarding the current
'Freeze' on Recruitment across CCD. Unfortunately, if you have not
already been offered a start date it is not likely you will be offered a
start for at least the next month or so.

As soon as the 'Freeze' has been lifted, we will have a clearer picture
of where we are at with regards to numbers. Hopefully you will hear from
    us soon."

So I emailed him back and vented a bit about what a fiasco this has been etc etc and his reply was....

"I appreciate where you're coming from, I have sent your email onto Lynne
Gordon my Team Leader who will be able to answer your questions a lot
    better than I can."

I will post any more info as and when I receive any. Meanwhile back to the drawing board.

    Best wishes to all.
