    Hi deejay22

yeah I'm in the north west, i applied to hyde.
so happy you received news my friend.
when you do start? what is the training for EO.
how long have you been waiting?

Thank you! I start on 2nd Nov. I have been told I get 4 days training, it doesn't sound long enough to get my head around all that i'll have to learn, but hopefully there will be some shadowing of staff etc, until I know what i'm doing.
    I applied 15th June.
    Online assessment 19th June
    Interview 6th July
    Success letter 12th Aug
CRB received (eventually) on 10th Sept
THE CALL received on 22nd Sept
    Start date - 2nd Nov.

    Good luck to you!

my heart goes out to you because i know what you mean.
you get used to your own company.
you get used to feeling fed up don't you.
    all those feelings of dispair.
    money is everything.
so get yourself a couple of months under your belt and then make the moves you have to, let yourself settle in with your new job first though.

no call yet. i did email the local MP for dukinfield though because if there was a "recruitment freeze" across a government body then surely parliment would know. but, obviously there isn't a "recruitment freeze" acroos the entire JCP as some of these posts suggest.
but i just want a true answer.
newcastle resourcging shouldn't say there is a "recruitment freeze" if that's not exactly the case.

Yes, that is exactly how i felt. Been prone to depression in the past and this year has been my worst yet. It's a constant battle to just think you should even bother to wake up in the mornings!!

I'm sure many people here feel the same. Waiting is like torture when your livelihood depends on it. Even an email for people estimating when they should hear back or some kind of update would be a start for people!

Unluckyone...i should imagine you will hear back very soon. Let us all know when you do!!

    Thank you!! :T

I'm sorry, but i never got told what position i was. I did ring up to ask but got informed there was no such thing!! Which confused me considerably. Maybe he just couldn't be bothered checking. Sorry i couldn't be of more help!!

  • Thank you :o I feel a bit guilty as i know there are so many people waiting. I just wanted to let you all know partly so people know that the freeze does not affect all areas...proved by me, proud resident of the North West!!

2 months wait is probably not that bad compared to most, so i really have nothing to grumble about now. As you know the waiting and not knowing is torture, especially when 99% of jobs hire you withing a few weeks of telling you you're successful. I will make sure to update if i find out anything though. You can't get rid of me that easily!! Gotta support my fellow dwp waiting listers!!

CONGRATS VENUS, thats great news! just about to give up all hope as well. Keep us posted with all your news please. Good luck with the training.:j:j:beer::j
  • Well Done Venus! Many congrats! So happy for you! You all may be interested to hear that I have just spoken to a friend of a friend about the situation we have all found ourselves in. His wife and two daughters work for DWP and they say there is no recruitment freeze as such. Its just that they are totally swamped just now and are slowly working through, and allocating, the jobs that were advertised. Apparently there is a VERY high turnover of staff due to people not being able to handle the abuse they get from claimants (which makes sense - 5 seconds in my local Jobcentre and you lose the will to live, what with all the drunks and druggies and general "casualties of society"). He said not to give up hope - we havent been forgotten about - they are just being a little slower than usual.

This has perked me up a little and hope that it helps all of you too.

    Once again, WELL DONE VENUS!

    Heather
  • Congrats Venus..........
I'm currently on my 2nd week of traning at Toxteth and loving it....you'll enjoy it and don't be worried the people are absolutely lovely, hope you get the trainer called Tom who does a 3 day training on customer service in week 1 he is such fun, trains by geting everybody 'doing' and uses games to make ya think---he really he brillliant.

The building is fine, decent canteen but i'd advise bring your own lunch...you can claim a £4.75 lunch allowance each day of training, you can also claim 40p per mile for travel in car or public transport. There is also loads of car parking too.

I'm with a lovelt bunch of people and we have such a laugh although will be sad when we leave to our different JCP's. We are all each going this wednesday for the day to our own JCP to get to know everyone.

Don't be nervous, it is so well organised and the day flies so quickly.

    Best of luck.
  • Anyway...where is Paulywoo...if you're reading- i will be working with you soon!!!

yaay congrats hunny, u 2 can be partners in crime lol, im really chuffed for ya hunny xx
  • Thank you for all the lovely 'Well dones', hopefully you will all be getting yours soon!!

I live on the Wirral and don't drive, so gonna be a trek to Toxteth everyday!! Two buses!!

Cookie...how do you claim for travel and stuff? I could do with it as i am flat broke!! I've been panicking about it!!

Training sounds fun...does it involve making an idiot of yourself in front of others? Cuz i'm good at that anyway!!

Heathertheblether- hopefully the jobcentre i am in won't be too bad....or full of bloodthirsty JSAers!! I can't imagine what it would be like trying to get someone to sign their book WHISLT also unwrapping their fingers from around my throat!! Gulp!!
