They could tie themselves into knots? That counts.

Well done Venus on getting 'the call'. Goes to show that we shouldn't believe all we hear or read and there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I too received a call today saying they wanted me for that pilot part-time role (see a previous post of mine). But before I could say "thanks for the offer but...." the lady said that she's aware that I'd rather wait for the full-time position and that the wait might be quicker than first thought. Meetings are happening now to ascertain what levels they need and calls will be made sooner rather than later.

I'm hoping that this is the case across the country and we'll all be getting 'the call' too.

Hi, may I ask you, what role have you applied for, EO?, and which area? I am asking as only 4 weeks ago I was literally begging for part time position as an EO, but was told none available and therefore I was withdrewn from the recruitment because I could not take up F/T employment due to child care issues, even though I made it clear I can do extended hours. Many thanks in advance for your reply.

Sorry, I meant that if I got called for the pilot late afternoon jobs at the DWP I'd probably accept it. It depends, let's see how many more people get taken on full time in the upcoming weeks and whether or not any are in my area.
Hi, I am quoting you again, may I ask you , which area are you in, I ask only because 4 weeks ago I was requesting, correction, to be more precise begging the person responsiblefor posting for part time position, but was told none available in all of 6 London districts due to business needs, but I was willing to do extended hours including Saturdays but I could work 20, 25 or even 30 hours per week , I was shocked that they had many positions and later readvertised for EO roles again saying they have vacancies but could not offer Part time hours.

I'm up for East of England roles but I don't know where the late opening is actually going to be done. The Job Centre I sign on at is pretty big and busy so I'd assume that it'll get late opening but I don't really know anything.

I'm applying for London at the moment as well.
  • :beer:omg venus congrats cant believe it thats fantastic news gives us all a bit of hope so pleased for you hun good luck you will have them laughing all day :)
  • Hellooooooooooooooooooooo!!

Just a quick update to say i got 'the call' about half an hour ago!! Can't believe it...its really pathetic but i am actually shaking!! I actually thought i would never get it...i was resigning myself for another 6 months of unemployment!!

I start training on Monday and will be situated in my local office Upton!!! Hurrah!!! :)

So someone stating before (Fremsley) 'no where is exempt from the freeze' is speaking nonsense....

    Hey, congratulations Venus!
    Good luck for Monday
  • Update IRC61418

I just got a letter from DWP. They will be starting to call people after mid October, in the meantime, congratulations,....yada yada. We look forward to working with you.

    I'm in the West Midlands.

Although 'the call' would have been better, I am quite pleased they bothered to write and reassure me of a post as soon as the freeze is lifted.
I can do all things through him who gives me strength....:A

I've also received a (badly written) letter referring to 61418, though it stated that they were reviewing the staffing position until late October.
