DWP employment waiting list

Yep - same here - as of now I have officially given up too. All of our hopes were so high (not just as individuals, but also our partners, children, siblings and any other dependents). The whole fiasco stinks.:mad:0

Anyone applied for IRC61412? Be interested to hear any stories about that one? Partner got a successful letter at the start of the month, but nothing else yet.0

Eh...... so what you guys are saying out there it is now a waste of time going for an interview with DWP. I have two this week with them in Glasgow. Anyone else on this forum going for the same posts. I have spent most of this weekend preparing for the interviews now feel such a huge waste of time0

i don't mean to be rude but i find your posts rather patronizing.
people are absolutely entitled to feel slightly let down by the dwp experience they have had to date.
the candidate experience has been extremely poor and i don't think anyone at the dwp could argue with that.
the sheer lack of communication is a lack of respect to the applicants they thought were intelligent enough to work for them and also a lack of common courtesy.
that alone is enough to get anyones back up, wouldn't you agree?
i can understand the current economic downturn and that it is fast changing, however, it is frustrating to see that the dwp website is still recruiting?? why?? they seem to have a massive headcount of successful applicants waiting in the pipeline, why not post these people first?
as other posts have already said, if it was not for this forum i would not have had a clue about any apparent recruitment freeze!
and even when the end of october comes, no one really knows where things are going to stand, even the dwp doesn't seem to know, so, who filled your head with dwp info power that leaves you feeling comfortable to tell people to "stop waiting and move on".
why on earth, in this current economic downturn would anyone want to give up any hope of getting this job.
any hope is better than no hope and until someone from the dwp tells me personally that there is definitely no job then i will remain to have atleast some hope.
if finding another job was as easy as you think it may be, then i'm sure we would have done so by now.
plus, i actually WANTED this job, i would have been very happy as a civil servant working in my local jcp.
I'm sorry that you feel that way about my posts, I think you've misunderstood me a bit.
I pretty much feel the exact same way as you do. I wanted this job and I'd made my plans for how I could make it work for me and my situation and the future was looking pretty good.
The point that I'm making isn't that it's easy to find more work, in fact I'm saying the opposite. I've had 2 interviews in 6 months and I'm a recent graduate who's worked constantly since the age of 16. What I'm saying is that we all need to keep looking for work and not let this whole saga stop us in our tracks because the jobs aren't there. If I'm proven wrong and we're offered jobs then that'll be absolutely brilliant, but I see no evidence that this will happen.
Believe me, I'll spend every spare minute that I've got making sure that this isn't forgotten. I've already been onto MPs, the media and anyone else who might listen (which is how I got my most recent information) but we do all need to move on at the same time. I agree totally with everything you've said about the process and the way we've been treated. I feel disgusted and I feel betrayed. Those are the actual words I used to describe it to Yvette Cooper. I've had my mum cry with happiness down the phone when I told her I'd got the job and I had her cry again when I told her what they'd done to me. I don't underestimate anyone's strength of feeling on this.
By giving up hope I don't mean literally phoning them up and telling them where to go, or not picking up the phone if and when they do see fit to make 'the call'. I mean that we need to continue our job searches as if this never happened because then we're more likely to have options. There might still be a chance here but anyone who puts all his eggs in the DWP basket at the moment is kidding himself. I'm sorry if that's patronising, but it's the way that I feel based on the evidence that's in front of me.0 -

NO! Do the interview and do it well. Just don't take their "success" letter, which I'm sure you'll receive, at face value. Until you're given a start date make sure you've got other irons in the fire.
Also, if you're only doing interviews now then hopefully by the time they've marked everyone and done the checks the freeze will be over and you'll get some clear information on whether or not they genuinely intend to employ you.0 -

i completely agree, it takes them a while to complete checks etc, so by then we will all know including the DWP whats going to happen etc, so please still go and give it ur best shot, but as quoted still continue to look for work in the mean time, good luck0 -

I totally agree. Although it would be great if any of us ever do get "the call" i think we would all be very silly people if we didnt look elsewhere too, but then ive always been looking elsewhere, so nothings going to change now. Im hoping that by the end of october i might get a start soon after. 32nd on the merit list doesnt sound all too bad but with the DWP nothing is ever a certainty0 -

Just to clear up further confusion about the recruitment fiasco, I have just spoken to a number of people at employee services and contrary to some earlier rumours in this thread, there are no regions exempt from the freeze.0
