    I'm here!!

I am gutted that we are told congratulations and then oops, we have taken on too many?? How can this be fair??
I cant even get thru to find out what position i am in?

I have a 12year old, and i havent worked since last year, my jsa (6 months worth) ran out in june and xmas is round the corner, frustrated and stressed this is never going to get better. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
  • I got a letter this morning saying I had got the job I had applied for (AO-IRC 62214) in Birkenhead and that I had been put onto the waiting list. I had the interview on the 09/09 and they said it could take up to 8 weeks for them to be back in touch. As it was only 2 weeks I'm pretty confident I may actually start in the next 6 months but you never can tell with these things can you?
  • Well I was only interviewed last week and don't see anything happening there for a while, and feel its not worth wasting my time getting angry or emotional as there isn't anything I can do to change the situation, so I have just been offered a job for Christmas at M & S. No not the perfect job but it will bring a little money in..applied on line last night, interviewed this morning and start next Tuesday....

Just wanted to post to say that there are things out there, not necessarily what we want but we just have to make the most of life where we can..

    Good luck everyone....

I'm in the food department, so guess where my discount will be going for Christmas...lol..
  • Hey folks!

Thank god for this forum!! Lol!

Ive been successful since July now, not on the waiting list but actually successful! The last that i heard was that my checks had been completed and handed to a vacancy holder. Has any one contacted a vacancy holder directly? I cant seem to ger a number! Got told 3 weeks ago that i will have a starting date soon but nooo!
Surely this does not happen in any other line of job! ridiculous!

  • What role did you apply for Jane?

Welcome, you'll find there are many others in the same position as you, including myself. Told my details had been passed on and would get a call soon but the freeze they have implimented means we have to wait untill the end of October at the earliest and even then there might not be enough jobs.
  • Afternoon All

Same post as before really, anybody had anymore info on IRC60076 Birmingham, interview 30th June, successful letter 24th July with 12 month waiting list.

Three weeks ago everything happened.... disclosure Scotland returned, both references contacted, self employment form completed/returned, pre employment health check telephone call received.

Then like everyone else, waited for the call....
but there is no news is there, just goes from bad to worse doesn`t it?

Has anyone heard anything about IRC60076 in the last week or so?

Hate to burst your bubble, but those waiting list letters are not a good indication right now. You'll be waiting a long time, I think. At least into next year unless you're very near the top of your waiting list.

There's a couple of different letters that go out. There's the success letters that do not mention waiting lists, but do state that pre-employment checks are underway and they'll be in touch again once they are done to confirm whether a job will be offered or not. Until recently, this letter meant that you had been assigned to fill a position but did not yet constitute a job offer.

Then there's the 6 month or 12 month waiting list letters. If you get one of these, your interview score was high enough that they'll take you on ... but there's a whole bunch of people who scored better than you, and those people have been assigned the jobs. If they refuse, or someone quits, then they go to the waiting list. From the moment they pick you off the waiting list it'll be 4 weeks or more until you actually get an offer, because they'll need to do your pre-recruitment checks.

Unfortunately right now none of the above letters mean anything at all, because there's a recruitment freeze (unless you applied for a JC+ in London, North West or West Midlands) while they re-assess how many people they have currently, how many people they actually need, and where they actually need them most.

We've been told that it will likely be mid-late October before they start placing people again, and there are no guarantees that the jobs we all applied for will still exist.
  • Thanks, it is the North West where I applied. My brother works for the DWP and he said that he got exactly the same as I did and started within three months of applying, also it's not a JC+ I'm applying for but a specific BDC position in Birkenhead. As I say you never know with these things but I'm vaguely optimistic I'll start in the new year.
