DWP employment waiting list

I went on a 'fast track' DWP course for an AO position in Sheffield back at the start of August. CRB, health forms the lot were all done and my interview was successful and I was called and told to just wait for the CRB and refs to come back. They all came back apart from one reference - which I was told last week was the only thing I needed before I could start. Well I sorted that out within a day and so expected to hear something this week. I contact them again and am told that they are reviewing positions at the end of October! From day one I was led to beleive I definitely had a position, was never told about any waiting lists, was told to just wait for the crb etc, and I even had a form about my pension saying to the effect 'fill this in so you can start on your start date' yet now they're 'reviewing' positions at the end of October?0

good for you. i have applied for some xmas jobs so hopefully something will come of that. just gonna keep myself busy for now. have even cleaned my oven today so feel like i doing something productive with my time. lolI know where you are coming from ! I'm gonna leave it now, and stop getting worked up about it all.
Like you say, if they want us they will contact us in due course, and then I will look on it as a bonus.
I have just been offered a really crap paid job, but it will put me on until something better comes along. I feel its always better to find a job when you are working anyway, and I HATE being at home all day, and HATE signing on, and trying to get my insurance payments every month. The job I've been offered will mean I get less a month than I do now as I have insurance to cover mortgage & finance etc, but it doesn't last forever and I feel it will do my confidence a great deal of good being in work again
Good luck, M

So pleased for you that you managed to get a job at Marks and Spencer. Did you have to attend a team assessment for that (I presume you did). If so, what was it like? I am feeling very low and despondent at present, having just been rejected by John Lewis for the FOURTH time now (can't even get a temp Xmas retail job here on Merseyside!).
Anyway, at least SOME people are managing to get a job, and it's always nice hear of some success stories amidst this awful recession. Good luck. Hope it goes well.Janabiyah-Jane wrote: »Well I was only interviewed last week and don't see anything happening there for a while, and feel its not worth wasting my time getting angry or emotional as there isn't anything I can do to change the situation, so I have just been offered a job for Christmas at M & S. No not the perfect job but it will bring a little money in..applied on line last night, interviewed this morning and start next Tuesday....
Just wanted to post to say that there are things out there, not necessarily what we want but we just have to make the most of life where we can..
Good luck everyone....
I'm in the food department, so guess where my discount will be going for Christmas...lol..0 -

Thanks, it was very easy really, I had to fill in an online application which had lots of customer service questions (multiple choice) if you answered all correctly when you submitted it you were immediately given an interview date.
It was only me and it was only a role play. One of the easiest jobs I have found to get into....
Have you checked if there are any in your area going, if not yet there will be, the hr lady told me she will have about another 70 vacancies coming up for Christmas so I am sure that will be the same in all stores...
Good luck and keep trying...Jx0 -

Yeah, sounds standard but it does say "personally investigate" so hopefully you will get some answers on this. Please keep us informed as it is my IRC too.0 -
