Yes but it also says at the bottom congratulations on your success and we look forward to working with you in the future !! What does that mean then ?
The bit about whether or not we can offer you a post is purely subject to checks such as CRB/Disclosure and NI checks etc like anywhere else. If we pass those checks (and most will) then we are entitled to feel we earned that job.
I don't know of any other organisation that sends out congratulation letters and then not hire you - it's ridiculous.0 -
That's unbeliavable. I am in the exact same situation. My employer thinks I am leaving too and is already taking steps to replace me not to mention being asked when I am starting. There's just no communication. If it wasn't for here how would I have got to know this. I'd be sitting at home waiting for a call that was never going to come.
How can they tell 300 people they have a job a few weeks back and now only need about 30! It doesn't make sense at all.
I have no idea, I'm sorry to hear you're in the same boat, it's disgusting. I've just sent my complaint letter.0 -

At the moment jobcentreplus are revaluating, if and when they require further staff they will contact the names on the list"
EVEN MORE CONFUSING ONE LIST!!!!!!!!!:rolleyes:0 -

I have been following this thread and wondered where the figure of 30 has come from? Does that mean the top 30 people on the merit list will be getting a phone call?0 -

She said that i was 32nd on the list, and in regards to the freeze, not to worry. She said its not going to take long to process the information they need to, and they will start posting again in the next few weeks and that the order of the merit list will stay the same...so altho it might take a few weeks longer our jobs will still be granted. She also told me that 78 people have been posted in my area in the last 2 weeks so not to be disheartened because it will happen, and she said the likelihood is that it will defo be b4 xmas. She also said that the reason we have not been informed of this "freeze" is because its not going to directly affect us people on a merit list other than having a few weeks of a longer wait, and that it really is not as bad as it has been made to sound. Basically they done a mass recruitment and got a much bigger response than they expected to so they have been left with masses of people who have been successful. Until they can compose the lists and find out exactly how much people they need in certain areas they want to freeze the process to make it easier to handle but regardless of this there ARE still jobs to fill. She seemed to be very sure of what she was saying so im not panicking at the minute. I think if your on the merit list your ok, but if your on a 12 month waiting list...well im not sure. I think most of us are on merit lists tho eh?
Hi there, thanks for this is makes me feel abit more positive. What area is this for?0 -

Well reading Pablo's post he said
Apparently I'm number 59 on the MERIT list. Didn't think that sounded bad thought it would be out of about 300. But she doesn't think I'll be offered a post this time round they won't be going that far down the list. WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So if he's 59 and they don't think they'll be needing him it must be a lower figure. When I rang a month back they guy told me there were just over 300 posts for this area and my checks were completed and passed on and I'd be receiving a call soon*.
*Soon, according to DWP, is maybe 3 months depending how we feel, or probably never.0 -

Ha, something like that, yeah.
But if there's 300 people with success letters for this area and Pablo was told that at number 59 on the list he probably wont be placed then there's gonna be quite a lot of angry people waiting for a call that will never come.0 -
I'd like to make it very clear that from my experience Merit List in no way means you're safe.
I'm 59th and have been told I won't be posted despite being told earlier I would.
And that is cutting a very long story short!!0
