DWP employment waiting list

Hi, length of Fixed Term Appts can differ but it should have stated the length in the job vacancy you applied for. I am currently in a Fixed Term AO position which is for 12 months, with a view to permanancy. However, some of the more recent jobs advertised are for 18 months. When you get your official letter offering the job, it should state when the job starts and ends.0

Contrary to what some people have said here, I have had a very good experience with the DWP. They answered all my questions whenever I called them, regarding my position on the waiting list, when the next batch was likely to be recruited & they even contacted me on email about the choice of start dates as I was on holiday. Thanks to an excellent recruiting officer.0

I atttended an interview for EO post on 28th Feb following successful tests the previous week. I got a letter 13th March saying I had been successful. Then two weeks ago DWP asked me to send them my disclosure certificate which I did. Since then, nothing. My mum applied for the same post at the recent intake and was also told she was successful. She received a letter from them last week asking her to call urgently, which she did, only to be told they want her to start thinking of an alias to be known by and the vacancy holder would be in touch! I phoned the recruitment line as I haven't even had a letter and they said the vacancy holder will contact me. Really I just want to know if I'm on a waiting list or not, and if I'm not is there a rough time scale for completion. I've been made redundant while on maternity leave and need to try and arrange childcare!0

I applied for a dwp job back in December 08, was interviewed and tested pretty quickly, received a waiting list letter, CRB, references, etc. I got a phone call last week offering me a position to start 5 May. So 5/6 months to go through the process, the job is a fixed term contract for 2 years. I have a job so I was a bit reluctant to accept because of the fixed term contract position but I am going to give it a go and hope it works out!!!0

Just to give you a guide, I sent my CRB back 5 weeks ago and I've still not heard back yet. When I went to sign on, the jobcentre told me they had 20 positions available and that no one has started yet and they don't know when they will.0 -

seems bonkers, but then I suppose there is massive recruitment drives going on all over the country. My mum got her phonecall today, but she found something else in the meantime so she turned it down!0 -
Can anybody shed some light on my situation, please?
I applied for an Admin Officer position at the Job Centre (DWP) and successfully made it through the tests and interviews (after many moons of waiting).
When I received confirmation that I had passed the interview I also received the forms for the CRB check; which I promptly filled in and sent off.
Just over two weeks ago I received my CRB certificate and sent it straight to Newcastle shared employee services. They then sent it back to me with no explanation of what happens next. I tried to call the Newcastle office several times, but there is no answer (arrrrgggghhhh-the sound of hair being pulled).
I was just wondering if anybody else has had a similar experience, or has any answers.
Here are the specifics of my tale of woe:
Test date: 15/02/2009
Interview date: 18/02/2009
Location: London area
Also, please note that I have heard no mention of waiting list, so...does that mean I am or aren't on one?
Thank you in advance0
