I've been following this thread for a while and panicking. All this talk of numbers on merit lists etc etc. This morning I picked up the phone to call Newcastle for an update but found a message on 1571 from yesterday telling me to ring my district office for a start date!!!!

Good news is I start in a weeks time and I'm over the moon! I had my interview in June so it has been quite a wait. _party_
I'm hating you right now, I want any Wirral based jobcentre. Congrats by the way, but if I get upton I'll be letting you know!!!!!
  • Hi,

I really hope somebody can help me!

I applied for an AO position in the Dorset area 14/06/09, completed the test 21/06/09 had an interview 07/07/09 and a congratulations you have been successful letter with no mention of a waiting list 28/07/09!

Here's the fun part- on the 18/08/09 had another letter with the same IRC number advising me I had me successful for EO which I DID NOT APPLY FOR and had been placed on a waiting list?! Typo or some big mess up?

Then last week had my cleared CRB check with a DWP compliments slip?! None of my referees have been contacted so i'm really confused now!

I worked for them as a Pensions processor previously so I know it can take some time...but think I'm going to write to them as it sounds as though they aren't much help on the phone! Anyone have any ideas what's going on?

    Hi Stephl,
I'm starting training at Toxteth next week and know its where you are, at the mo...what is parking like there? and what are people wearing...is it just casual smart...pants/skirt and shirt/blouse/jumper etc???

Looking forward to it and then I'm based at Edge Hill, where are you going to be based?

    Hi Cookie0803,

There is a small official car park at the back of the Toxteth building. Apparently that fills up pretty quickly so I haven't bothered trying it, but there's a piece of land opposite the building that everyone uses for parking too (except on Tuesdays, when there's a market there). There are no restrictions to parking on the streets around the building either, so I've just been doing that and haven't had any problems.

As for clothes, I wore a suit on the first day 'cos I wasn't sure what to expect, but smart casual's fine so I've stuck to that for the rest of the week.

I hope this helps, and good luck for Monday!

Oops - nearly forgot! :o I've been posted to Aintree

Just telephoned Newcastle who inform me that it takes 4 - 6 weeks for the pre-recruitment checks, irrespective of whether these have been carried out on a previous application ! Can't give me any further indication of timescales for this exercise or where I am on any merit list:confused:

It still takes the regular amount of time because they sometimes run all the checks again and even if they used your previous checks you can't be given a start date until the checks are back for all the others on that IRC list as well.

Anyone heard anything from IRC 60369 or 60370 yet????
