National recruitment freeze??? Oh no!!! After waiting all these months for word, I am now told that they are not taking anybody on anymore.

Do you know how long this freeze is supposed to last? One minute you hear they are desperate for staff - and the next you hear they are freezing recruitment!

She said it will definitely last this month and probably deep into october is the very earliest we can expect to hear anything - so maybe even november or longer...

    I feel like a plague bearer :(
  • i wonder whats going to happen to all the ppl that have start dates coming up, hopefully they wont be let down too, im disgusted at the DWP, why do such big recruitment drives when they know what the economy and Labour MArket is like, should of known it was too good to be true

I hope not... My main worry is that the woman kind of hinted on the phone that they have over recruited and now they don't have places for a lot of us that got success letters.

    Hopefully not:eek:
  • Would this 'freeze' include Wales too ?

I for one will be absolutely furious if it turns out to be the case with my application for IRC60862. If true, how the hell can they do this to people. It's already a painstaking process from start to finish without them then saying "oh, you know that letter we sent you saying you had a job......well we were only joking.....and the truth is YOU DON'T !!"

I've just tried ringing my local Business Centre only to be told the person I need to speak to is in a meeting. Wonder what meeting that is for I wonder. I told the person who answered my worries and feelings etc and asked if 'right person' could be kind enough to call me back with some answers.

I'm not holding my breath but will ring her again before 5pm as I am steaming.
