DWP employment waiting list

OMG - I feel physically sick by the news of a potential recruitment freeze.
I had "the call" about two weeks ago and even after that, it's still an agonising wait for something in writing. This morning I was jumping for joy when I received details of my proposed training schedule. At last, I had something tangible to confirm that this job is real. .... and now I can't describe the feeling that this may not be real after all. My proposed start date is 19 October.
I've just had a look at the DWP Vacancies site and there are new adverts that have been placed today.
I really hope that this is just a rumour ... perhaps they're hoping that it will stop people ringing for updates and give them a chance to catch up. Who knows?
Anyway, I'm going to try and "hang in there" over the weekend. I'm sure that if this is in fact true, it will appear in the news.
Good luck everyone.0 -
Would this 'freeze' include Wales too ?
I for one will be absolutely furious if it turns out to be the case with my application for IRC60862. If true, how the hell can they do this to people. It's already a painstaking process from start to finish without them then saying "oh, you know that letter we sent you saying you had a job......well we were only joking.....and the truth is YOU DON'T !!"
I've just tried ringing my local Business Centre only to be told the person I need to speak to is in a meeting. Wonder what meeting that is for I wonder. I told the person who answered my worries and feelings etc and asked if 'right person' could be kind enough to call me back with some answers.
I'm not holding my breath but will ring her again before 5pm as I am steaming.
Let us all know if you get a response from them, please.
Its all extremely disheartening, and I am livid at the months of tests and interviews to then receive this bombshell today0 -
I think this is just rumours. If it were real, the press would have caught wind of it and there would be stories all over the internet. This may have stemed from the Lib Dems recent announcment that they want to put a freeze on public sector pay and reduce some benefits.
Also, I just got back from my 6 month JSA review (literally 5 mins ago) and the person I asked there said a couple people had asked but niether she or anyone else she had asked had heard anything about a recruitment freeze.
What I would suggest is everyone calm down and not jump to conclusions. Call someone dealing with your recruitment and try to get some info out of them.0 -

I had my 6 months review this morning, but seems like this all kicked off since I got back !
A few people have rang the recruitment line, and been told about the freeze. I have tried to ring the line dealing with West Yorkshire, but it is just ringing out:mad:0 -

.
My guess is if you've been given a start date you're ok, so don't panic.
The roles advertised today look like both single specialist roles, rather than batches of EO's and AO's which is where the freeze is probably focused.
I hope it's just some kind of brief temporary thing and the rumor of it being longer term isn't true but the DWP lady I spoke to around lunchtime sounded like she was pretty sure of it all:( Let's hope the staff just heard about a brief freeze and have jumped to conclusions.0 -

Just tried again but similar answer - she's out of her office, i'll get her to ring you back etc !! But the woman I did speak to says she hadn't heard of any freeze.
I also have a friend who actually works in the BDC in Newport and she has told me previously that they as well as the local JCP's are desperate for new starters to actually begin their training.
Now that I have calmed down a bit I'm now thinking trevormax may be right in that it could be area/office specific. Makes sense if you tally that up with the unemployment figures in that area. Maybe these offices have over-compensated and advertised/recruited above what they thought or in fact need to cover and or cope !!0 -
Hi Mariscino
How did you get on with the 'taster' day?
Also, did you hear anything about the National freeze on reqruitment for the DWP whilst you were there.0 -
The recruitment pause is true.
AFAIK its only applicable to Jobcentre Plus jobs and there are three Customer Service regions it doesn't apply to, one of those being London (can't recall the other two). Customer Service Directorate (CSD) is the face to face Jobcentre network only.
Its supposed to be to look at where we are with the recruitment. So many people have been recruited over the last six months so quickly that they want to take another look at volumes of claims being received and revise what recruitment is needed where.
Anyone that has been given a start date already will have this honoured."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -

thank u for that, can i just ask does this mean if u are further down the list there is a chance there may not be a job for u at the end of this process then, im number 81 out of a possible 300 jobs, so am slightly concerned, do we have any timescale how long this will take please0 -

Thanks for the info
So would this "pause" not apply to a benefit delivery centre (BDC)?0
