DWP employment waiting list

I tried phoning my IRC which is the East of England, and no matter how many times I phoned they wouldn't answer. It was the same with Newcastle. This made be panick in itself as I would like to know what's going on before the weekend so I don't have to spend it worrying. I'm just wondering if I should start looking for other work now?0

I also just googled this....just to check if anyone else had put somethign online, and found an article about a large recruitment freeze within DWP...dated 2008. I found another one dated just 2 months ago with DWPs big plans to employ many more people and spend a lot of money on recruiting.....in order to heighten there level of customer service and also help the unemployment figures.
Think i'll just sit tight and wait to see what happens, but from where im sitting, it doesnt look as bad as ppl are suggesting0 -
Where are you getting all this info, do you work somewhere high within DWP ? How come people I and trevormax have spoken to have not heard of anything ?
More importantly how come you can only tell us the one area that's supposedly effected ? Why don't you know the other 2 ?
And how come I have a friend who works in our local BDC who says they are desperate for the new starters to start their training etc ?
It's all very confusing.
I have this info as its my job to have it.
I am, as I explained not working today thats why I cannot name the other two regions.
I work in Head Office, it takes a while for information to trickle through, managers were only told yesterday. Perhaps the vacancy holder for your recruitment is in one of the areas not affected, I don't know.
I have been as specific as I can and explained your other questions above.
If you choose not to take it seriously then that is your choice, I'm just trying to help."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -

And the majority of us are taking it seriously and appreciate your help.
Many thanks :T0 -

Can u please be more specific in exactly what u mean by this freeze. Are we talking ALL areas, or only certain ones. IE scotland, england, wales etc etc....what areas in these countries. Its all a bit too non-specific for me to start worrying about it, especially if the guy at DWP didnt have a clue what i was goin on about lol
Exactly, it's all too hairy fairy for me. Sammy hasn't even been in work today which suggests he/she knew yesterday or earlier. He/she also claims it's definately London and knows the other 2 areas but rather not say !!
I don't mean to come across as having a go at you Sammy but you can understand the confusion and worry all this has caused.
Surely if you are able to confirm this rumour, then every DWP employee in the country should know whats going on.....but they don't. Hence my question of whether you hold a higher position within DWP that affords you such info that others don't have. Which begs the question that if this is the case you really shouldn't being saying anything on here until it's been announced properly0 -
I am also waiting to hear for South Yorkshire 60535 and am totally gutted as i have been redundant since April. My aunt though works for DWP so i am going to get in touch to see wht information she has. If i get any more information ill let everyone know asap. Just totally gutted this is so unfair!0

that wud be gr8, thanks :T0 -
I think that what hurts the most is that so many of us (including me) have been looking for work for months now. Since I received the 'success' letter two weeks ago, I haven't bothered looking any further. I just feel like i've been holding onto this job for three months and it was totally pointless.
I just pray that there has been a misunderstanding and all will be o.k. Its just crap that we don't know for certain what's going on.

I have known for some time, I have explained myself as much as I intend to. I would have liked to tell people here before but I value my job and therefore did not mention it until someone posted about it after being told by a member of staff."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
My thoughts exactly. If indeed you have this info because you work in head office im pretty sure you shouldnt be divulging it to us (in a half hearted manner) before a press release has been done, or before even DWP staff know the situation. That in my opinion is taking slight advantage of your position and using it in an inappropriate manner. Im sure some people are grateful for this info, but i for one, dont think you should say anything at all until it has been officially announced or until tou can tell the full version of events. Sorry!Exactly, it's all too hairy fairy for me. Sammy hasn't even been in work today which suggests he/she knew yesterday or earlier.
