DWP employment waiting list

In all fairness to sammy, I posted about this first after hearing about it directly from a DWP employee. I posted what they told me, nothing more, nothing less. Make up your own minds and don't shoot the messenger guys.
I thought people had a right to hear what I was told, since some people are not looking for work and relying on their DWP jobs coming through.
too right :T0 -

Hi Maisette,
You dont tell them you have lost a job u havent got becos u dont know if you have lost it yet. Lets not all jump to conclusions. some pple still got the call today, this i gathered from another thread on mse- Job interview with DWP.
I for one have got faith cos this is muy lifeline into the civil service.
Have a nice wkend and try not to worry.:cool:0 -
Yep, I know it seems grim but it may turn out to be just a brief hiccup for some of us - Even if worst case scenario that some areas have over recruited, people still leave the DWP every day and I'm sure they will need more staff again soon.
I have to believe that because I need this job so desperately.:o0 -
The dwp are definitely still recruiting and will continue to recruit, it is just the influx of staff have caused problems with the system which they are trying to fix and also the general recruitment has been handled badly (see this thread for examples) because it was not designed for this type of mass recruitment.
Just don't give up hope, things just move slowly in the dwp

hmmm, I'm from London so I hope I'm not affected by this freeze. Of the IRC I am waiting for (61298), two people have had the call over the last couple of days so I hope this shows the freeze hasn't affected this, I hope get a call sometime next week. Here's to waiting......0

Yep ur all right, its horrible to go thru months of tests, interviews and the dreaded waiting game for "the call" only to hear it may not happen soon, if at all. Please dont think for one minute i was having a go at anyone, i was just frustrated cos it was like being told half a story that no one else from DWP seemed to know about. I know Sammy didnt mention it first and to be honest that wasnt my issue...I just didnt think it right of a DWP head office employee to let us into that just yet and make everyone stress out when not everyone will be directly affected (lets face it, spirits have been low on here today and i for one could be doing without the added stress...especially if it may turn out that my area is not affected!) Thats all. But good luck to everyone....im sure we'll all need it. I dont doubt that the news is somewhat true....just hope when i phone back up on monday the guy dealing with my IRC has been filled in (he knew nothing about it today), and maybe he can give an insight as to what to expect from all of this.....and i guess as most of us will be phoning up asking questions, we can all share what info we get about our IRCs and areas
Sorry if i offended anyone (sammy especially)...this wasnt my intention!! xxxxx

i understand everyones fustration here regarding recruitment process i went through worse then the majority.
i waiited over 6 months...
DWP have never done this kinda mass recritment they have only a small that does thousands of applications. Few years back they also cut 3000 hr staff and they cut over 30000 dwp staff from year 2004 onwards.
They have recruited 11,000 staff in since last year oct.
if you dont get ajob at dwp its not end of the world. their are many out their.
75% jobs are not advertised, ask your friends, families, speculative cv and cover letter.0
