DWP employment waiting list

Could it be just a 'freeze' on recruitment? As in, they may have enough people in their waiting and merit lists for their needs and will only further advertise for specific areas? This would make a bit more sense I think.... not a 'freeze' on start dates since a few people have posted that certain areas are desperately waiting for starters.

I was actually thinking the same. As ive been made aware that most areas are desperate for staff maybe it makes more sense to place all of us first, freeze further recruitment, ie application process, until we are all placed, at which point they could re-assess how many ppl they still need. I like this theory lol

I, too, am feeling sick as a cat over this supposed "freeze" on recruitment. The new intake for the contact centre in Dundee (a position for which I had a "success" letter on 22nd Aug) are meant to be starting a week on Monday (according to the guy at the interview) and I haven't heard a thing. Not even had my disclosure back. Have been applying for other jobs in the meantime (albeit half-heartedly) but this was the job that I REALLY wanted. If anyone hears ANYTHING about this hiccup with the DWP please let me know, for my own sanity and for others in the same boat!

Im gonna phone in on Monday and speak to the guy dealing with my IRC batch for fife....im sure with him being in the Edinburgh centre he might know whats going on with dundee too, i shall ask! Hes been helpful so far so hopefully by monday he knows a bit more than he did yesterday...which was nothing lol!

Aye, but then why was I told a few weeks ago that I'd be placed asap and probably get a call this week and now I've been told I probably wont hear anything till at least the end of october because of the freeze?...

I think the reason it's happened is they are not sure how many they really need and might have realised there is a danger of recruiting more than they budgeted for. Not a good idea when we are on contracts and they can't just ditch us.

My view on things is I think it does apply to those that have already started the recruitment process but I still think we will all get placed eventually, just maybe a little later than we thought.

Well i wasnt aware you had been told that lol! I dont know to be honest...until we all KNOW for sure its all just theories. Im gonna phone up tomorrow either way and find out what the story is for my area. We can only go on what were advised so good luck to everyone! I think your right tho, either way i reckon we WILL get placed, just may mean a longer wait than anticipated but hey weve waited this long right :(
