    Hi Jimisugly,

Hopefuly you won't have to wait that long for 'the call'.

I also applied for 61099 (EO) and attended an assessment centre at The Gateway in Warrington on the 2nd of August. I passed the tests and had an interview the same day.

I got a letter saying that I'd been successful on the 8th of August, and my Disclosure Scotland letter was forwarded on by the DWP about 10 days later.

I got 'the call' yesterday afternoon, and was offered a job starting next Monday (the 14th). I've got to do a 3 week training course at Toxteth JC+, then I'll be working at my local JC+, so I'm really pleased as my local JC+ was my first choice. :j

Good luck, and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

    HI STEPHL,

CONGRATULATIONS. I ALSO APPLIED FOR THE EO POSITION UNDER IRC61099 AND WAS TOLD THAT I WAS IN THE TOP TEN OF 188 POSTS SO PRESUMED I WOULD GET A CALL FIRST !!! I CALLED UP NEWCASTLE YESTERDAY AND THEY ADVISED THAT THEY COULD NOT POST ANYONE YET UNTIL ALL PEOPLE CHECKS WERE COMPLETED - LOOKS LIKE YOU MAY HAVE BEEN THE FIRST UNLESS THEY WERE CRYING OUT FOR STAFF WHERE YOU ARE BASED.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT NUMBER ON THE MERIT LIST YOU WERE?

WHAT JC+ HAVE YOU BEEN POSTED AT? I HOPE I GET THE BIRKENHEAD AREA WHICH IS MY CLOSEST BRANCH.

I WAS INTERVIEWED ON FRIDAY 31ST JULY AT WARRINGTON GATEWAY.

    WELL DONE ANYWAY :j

    CHEERS,

    Congratulations Stephl!

I too attended that day in Warrington and received everything in a similar timeframe to you. No call though. Did they call your mobile or landline? Also when they called did they give you the choice of Jc then or were you just allocated it?

Interesting to know if anyone else has received "the call" yet for 61099??

    Many Thanks!

    Thanks cosmos1,

They called my mobile around 3pm yesterday.

They told me where I'd be training and which JC+ I'll be working at after the 3 week training course, so I guess it was just allocated based on the form I filled in at the assessment centre.

I ticked quite a few options on the list of JC+'s, but I also wrote on the form to indicate which would be my first and second choice (if available).

Good luck, and I hope you get 'the call' soon.

Oh my god...i didn't know you could say which ones you prefer...i literally had to physically force my hand to stop ticking...i thought 'the more i tick, the more chance i have of getting a job faster....Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee *tick* *tick* *tick* *tick*!!!!' It all a bit hazy now...but i know i ticked faaaar too many!

Now i regret it as the buses on the Wirral are not the best (not where i live anyway) and i know i will end up getting a JC+ at least 3 bus journeys away!! Hahaha. Urrggggh i'm an idiot sometimes :o

    Hi Fcrepe,

    Thanks!

Sorry, but I don't have any idea where I was on the merit list.

I did call Newcastle just after I got the letter saying I was successful, but at the time I wasn't aware that a merit list existed.

I asked them how long the pre-employment check process was likely to take as I had another interview that week, but was holding out for the EO job. I've been waiting for checks for an EO position with the Border Agency since March, so was worried that the DWP checks would drag on too!. The guy I spoke to in Newcastle just told me the the checks would be completed ASAP as they were 'crying out' for staff.

I'll be based at the Aintree JC+, so it may be that need staff more urgently than some of the others.

Good luck, and I hope you get something in the Birkenhead area! :T

    Hi venus_in_furs,

I thought exactly the same thing and got a bit tick-happy too! :o

When I looked at the form after my ticking frenzy, I realised I'd got a bit carried away and that some of the ones I'd ticked wouldn't actually be that practical to get to. I wasn't sure if they'd take any notice, but just in case, I thought I'd write on the form to let them know which ones I'd prefer.

Hope everything turns out well for you and you get the one you want!

    Good Luck!!! :T
  • Thanks Stephl!

I hope they look at my postcode and go..."Silly woman...she couldnt possibly work too far away...i bet she can't drive either and has to get the bus! I think we shall place her in her nearest and most convinient Jobcentre....there we go!!"

That is how i want it to go in my (overactive) imagination anyway! :D
