Hello Im starting work soon at the jobcentre which is about 5 mins away from leeds train station (park place) As I know you've been wanting to work there I thought you might know how it is there in terms of if it is busy there and if it is a big office.

Sorry for asking you all this its just that I havent seen the jobcentre yet but can't help stop wondering how its going to be like!!

    OMG -

It is huge and mega busy. The front doors are always blocked up by smack heads and alcoholics.

At least you don't have to pass them on the way into work - far too early for them to be up.

I think there are 5 floors and each floor is enormous - I reckon there must be 50+ staff on the desks on the ground floor (signing on floor), that's not counting all the other staff around, floor wlakers, security, admin, managers etc.

Generally speaking the staff are quite nice and helpful - there are some typical civil servants there - you'll spot them within a few days.

And, there is a bloke on a desk who always wears a t-shirt. Not sure that's DWP dress code!

You sound like you aren't keen.

My wife is horrified that we have got Hunslet - she thinks it will be rougher than Park Place.

For some reason she thinks the people signing on at Park Place will be the unlucky business types who have been made redundant and are desperate to get to work.

I think she has a lot to learn.

    Hi Cookie,

The time can differ depending on the numbers and if they have placed everyone from the previous recruitment run. I applied for 61099 (EO) and 61139 (AO), interview for EO was 23rd July and AO was 27th July.

However I had the call for AO 3 days ago and was told they haven't started allocating off the EO list yet.

Looks like we'll have to wait another month or 2 before we get "the call"

    Hope this helps

    Hi Jimisugly,

Hopefuly you won't have to wait that long for 'the call'.

I also applied for 61099 (EO) and attended an assessment centre at The Gateway in Warrington on the 2nd of August. I passed the tests and had an interview the same day.

I got a letter saying that I'd been successful on the 8th of August, and my Disclosure Scotland letter was forwarded on by the DWP about 10 days later.

I got 'the call' yesterday afternoon, and was offered a job starting next Monday (the 14th). I've got to do a 3 week training course at Toxteth JC+, then I'll be working at my local JC+, so I'm really pleased as my local JC+ was my first choice. :j

Good luck, and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

    Congratulations Stephl!

I too attended that day in Warrington and received everything in a similar timeframe to you. No call though. Did they call your mobile or landline? Also when they called did they give you the choice of Jc then or were you just allocated it?

Interesting to know if anyone else has received "the call" yet for 61099??

    Many Thanks!

I think I'm a bit strange - I'm hoping for a colourful lot at my location because it might make the job more interesting.
  • Anyone got any news regarding IRC60535? South Yorks

My referees have been sent an email arrived Tuesday....Could I finally be getting there?!
