When you filled in the form for the CRB, did the DWP ask you to put their address in for the form to be sent to? If they did, call them up and ask if they've received it yet (or if they've even sent it off to Disclosure Scotland yet). If they didn't, you should get the form back from Disc. Scot. and will then need to forward it to DWP. Either way, you can try calling DS to find out if they've had an application under your name or not - they should be quite happy to let you know.

Last month they were taking 5-6 days once they arrived with Disclosure Scotland. This seemed to translate into 4-6 weeks once you take into account DWP red tape, as well as postage from DWP to DS and DS to DWP.

According to the DS website, it's currently taking 7 days for applications that do not require further follow ups (eg you forgot to fill in a section of the form).

Hopefully I'll get "the call" before the end of the month, but I'm expecting it to be more like 6-8 weeks away :(.
  • well another day here and gone with no phonecall, beginning to think i imagined it all lol, has any1 heard anything else or got phonecall for

yes - number witheld - they don't have my mobile number because when I went for interview I had just changed it and couldn't remember my new one. I rang DWP Newcastle to give them the new number yesterday and was told my details weren't with them any more but they wouldn't tell me who I could call to update my contact details.

    :(

I tried to update my mobile number [from the one i entered on the app form] with them, numerous times, by email and phone and still they called the wrong mobile number with regards to my start date, it was lucky i still had access to the voicemail they left!!!

My sound advice is, when you call them, ask them what contact number they have for you, if its not your mobile then make a big fat fuss!!
    Hang in there!

Hi there!Do the DWP always contact you with a phone call, or do I have to wait for a letter? Had my success letter for AO position on 20th August. They told me at the interview that they were looking to start the next "batch" of 20 mid-september.Not heard anything so far.....................

I'm still waiting since July (applied in May)! How do you go about looking for other jobs with 100% drive when you know you could have this job? If I get another job, is it okay to leave one job for the other without it affecting my work history? Feel stuck in a minor limbo.

Well, apart from the problem of them not having your new number...doesn't them not dealing with your details mean that your checks have been done and your info has been sent off to your 'business area' and so meaning you are closer to getting placed? That's good!

Anyway, do these dwp people never leave answer phone messages or something?! That would be simpler!

I applied for two positions in the southeast, and both left voicemails on my mobile regarding start dates. Its a waiting game. If you sense there is a delay call or email them besides getting info it gives you something to do during the badly managed, stressful process.
  • Thank you Rugeyes...i was beginning to think that the people organising this recruitment have not learnt how to use a voicemail, with the amount of people having mystery 'withheld' missed calls!
