well another day here and gone with no phonecall, beginning to think i imagined it all lol, has any1 heard anything else or got phonecall for

    IRC 60535???

I called first thing this morning (one call and they answered - YEY) apparently they're at reference stage with this 'exercise'. I was told they're awaiting return of references for me although my personal one's have definitely not received them. Hope he wasn't just fobbing me off. He did say apparently all CRBs have pretty much been completed for everybody. I know at some point we all get passed to this mysterious Business Centre and await the call. I hope it's not a case of waiting for everybody's references to come back first. Also got told I'm on the Merit list, don't know whether it means there is a waiting list for some of us but not others,or it means everybody is going to be posted and we're all on the merit list so essentially it is a posh name for a waiting list! Got told because I'm on a merit list I should be posted pretty much straight away pending successful references.

I'd really like to tell my current employer but if it all falls through I'm stuffed, don't even know whether the reference check will include one to the employer, some apparently check with tax office!

Anyone knbow much about a merit list...

    The saga continues... ARGHH:mad:

Thanks for this. Sorry if this is a daft question. I'm waiting on IRC61099 myself. When you say they had a previous merit list...was that from recruitment a while back...or did they split into different merit lists like a list A and B or something?

I'm apparently fairly high up the merit list (although signs are to the contrary as no references checks been done etc!)...but my interview was on the 22nd July. Does that mean people who maybe had been interviewed in like..March (to hazard a guess!) are on another list and they go through that list first?

Sorry if stupid questions...just finding this whole processing very confusing. Thanks.

I believe he meant that the previous merit list was from a previous recruitment run. Meaning regardless of where we are on the current list the people who were interviewed months ago will be placed before our list is even looked at.

Well i was told by Andrew who is dealing with it that there are no waiting lists on this 1 just successful and not succesful, and all 300 odd ppl who were succesful would get posted but priority was for the ppl at the top of the list, hope that helps x
  • Do they call your mobile or your house phone? Anyone know which they prefer? Ta'
My call was on my mobile, which is much better for me as I have no answering machine at home and my mobile is ALWAYS WITH ME!

I applied for AO and EO in sussex recently - I've been told I'm top of the merit list for AO and pretty much bottom of the 6 month waiting list for the EO(what can I say, I was very tired and unprepared for that interview:rotfl:). I would really prefer the EO spot but I have no idea if people at the bottom of a waiting list do actually ever get a job...

I think my merit number was 100+... eeep!

I know I can do much better than I did at my EO interview - I was exhausted and hadn't had time to prep much at all. It's frustrating because I know I can do well since I did so well at the AO. I wonder if it's worth my while applying for the upcoming london vacancies? My only worry is that I may get a EO position in london and then be excluded from applying for the next intake in the brighton area:(.

Can anyone shed any light on my chances?

    Thanks in advance!
  • iv completed my induction for DWP and started at my local office.

From deadline of appicaiton to start date..it took 7 months.

At induction we were told some reasons as to why it takes so long for HR newcastle to process.

This has been the biggest ever recruitment drive by DWP and they have never seen anything like this in any previos years. The amount of work newcastle staff have to do ...they have backlogs of work.

It takes a very long time to process this.

The recruitment has been a shambles most people would agree on that. Apart from that...DWP is a great company.
