So do you send the CRB form and the Applicant permission to disclose employment and crb details form back to the supplied address at DWP?

Do you know what they send to your references/previous employers???

everthing went back to newcastle inc disclosure scotland form - i think they have parts of the form to complete as well as ourselves.
don't know what my employer received apart from the fact its been done and sent off, one of my other referees had to complete a form asking questions about me - had i been bankrupt, could he detail my work history etc.

How about the disclosure Scotland booklet? do we also return that to dwp along with the application form and permission form?
  • I went for the tests at the weekend which I passed. Also had to fill out preference for location and the disclosure form which I have to send back to DWP when I receive it. Oh, and I haven't had an interview yet! I think thats quite efficient actually!

Contrary to what I first thought EVERYONE goes on the waiting list. Whether you're #1 in line for a position of 46 on #100 you all feature on this waiting list which is dependant on CRB and reference checking. The faster you return these forms the quicker the process and the quicker the DWP can get you trained and into work helping others back to work.

In fairness to the DWP they are quite a big organisation and the uptake to these jobs has been quite staggering and as a government organisation they are obliged to follow certain procedures and protocols hence the massive amounts of people put through for testing and then interviewing requiring lots of man hours. The advertisements for these positions were quite clear about the waiting lists of up to 12 months and this shouldn't come as a shock to anyone. I know it's extra difficult when you're looking for work and you think you've been offered something concrete but my advice is to continue your search and don't hold out on the DWP.

Some of the confusion has probably arisen from misinformation supplied in the letters from the DWP as they have such a large amount of people to contact and letters to type/print there will be those odd ones that slip through with incorrect information. My test score letter for example didn't really mention anything other than I achieved a score allowing me to apply for positions up to executive officer level but no results of the test. I rang the DWP number (month since I sent my CRB and Reference forms) for the lady who has been dealing with my (and I assume 100's of others) application and she was able to tell me that the checks were being done and that my actual test results were 100% which was ego boosting.

In short, you're all on a waiting list and give it a month after posting your CRB and reference confirmation request forms before bugging the over-worked people in the offices to work out exactly where you stand. Chances are you are in the lucky few who interviewed well and are not criminals and you'll be given a post, luckier still you may have scored less than someone else who turned out to be a criminal and you get their position! Some people may have found jobs and so their position is handed down the chain etc etc. It's a slow process admittedly but alas it can't be any other way.
  • That's cleared it up!
Keep applying for other jobs, folks!

So why is it some people get informed they're on a waiting list and others don't? Why is it myself and tigerlily have waited weeks and not heard anything, yet loretta-claire has been told shes on a waiting list even though she received her successful letter after we did. As I've said before I don't mind being on a waiting list it would just be nice to actually know where I stand. Its all rather ridiculous.

there was a sticker on the front of my booklet asking for it to be returned - i must admit i then forgot to put it in the envelope, i guess its a cost saving exercise by disclosure scotland to try and get booklets back to them.
