I gave both mobile and landline numbers. They called my mobile today and left a message. Which brings me onto my question........do they phone to let you know either way or just if you are successful? I had the message left on my mobile but didnt get it until after the office had closed so cannot ring back until tomorrow, am driving myself mad!! lolDebt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!0

This can't be true as I've had a successful letter saying I'm on a waiting list and none of my checks have been done yet!!!
I get the impression that they seem to send out a letter with whatever template they can get their hands on first.
Maybe that is because all the results are in for your recruitment and you ae not currently in a high enough position to be offered a job.Bored0 -
Superb!
Eh? No, it was a genuine question. Largely because I never answer my landline. It's invariably chips eggs beans and etc..
About waiting lists, the waiting list where you have a post but are waiting for checks isn't officially a waiting list (even though it is), whereas the waiting list where you don't have a post but are dependent on people dropping out or being refused to move up to a post IS officially a waiting list, even though sometimes it's shorter than the non waiting list. I hope that's cleared that up.:idea:0 -

That's what I tried to explain, but probably failed.
I am waiting for everybody's checks to come back, so I am on the 'non waiting list' waiting list currently!Bored0 -
Ok cheers for that!
1 last q....Do I need to send forms of ID as well (utility bill, bank statement) AND my P60/P45'S/Certificates??
It says I need to send P60/P45'S/Certificates on a separate sheet but what about forms of ID? that says in the booklet??
What do I send? and How long did your crb check take to come back?
might be too late if you've posted already but i included photocopy of passport, marriage licence and a utility bill with address on. my p60's were already given to dwp at interview stage.0 -

But was informed on the telephone that it is now going to be on a 18 month fixed term contract, Iam grateful for a job but at the same time feel a tad !!!!ed off having gone through all the rigmarole under the impression of being offered a permanent position that they move the goalposts and offer a fixed term. The job is based at cobalt park in Newcastle. Anyone else had any experience of this.
the job i have been told i'm successful for also stated permenant in the ad and i have this nagging feeling that could change, do they not have to stand by their original advertisement or are companies able to change it at this late stage?0 -
The missus went to see the person dealing with it in HR and apparently they can change it and why you might ask? Its because the Dept. in question may want the permanent staff but when presented to cash laden individuals at the government they can change it if they feel that a economic upturn may result in overstaffing. On the plus side was told they have a high turnover of staff so will be good chance of permanent and I am on the waiting list for CSA which also states permanent. So turns out the answer is yes they can change it so it should read "Fixed term maybe lead to permanent"

I do understand the frustration as i too am waiting on a list for a dwp job. However, i also do appreciate that the DWP are the biggest employer in the UK so things are going to take longer than a normal recruitment process just because of shear numbers especially with the amount of staff they must need right now with the increase of people out of work.
I passed my tests and got through to my first interview at the start of March (i made sure before i left that day i asked for my test results as had heard they take ages to come through and did not relish sitting the tests again which they were happy to give me), I did ask in the interview about when i would find out if i was sucessful and the staff interviewing where very honest about the process and that i would if sucessful be put on a waiting list then checks are done then if all ok with this then the X of sucessful people would be put in the roles appied for. I also asked how many roles the role was for and again they were quite open in giving me this information (so at least i knew the odds, was only 10 jobs for this one). They also said not to worry if i did not get placed in the first batch as it is a list so as soon as other jobs come up then the people on the list would be the first placed (and in the current climate more jobs were likely). The Interviewers also said that if i was really keen then just to keep applying for other jobs that also come up as the more waiting lists i am on the better chance i have of being placed quickly as several different departments are recruiting - quite nice of them to be so open i am sure if they would have given the information to anyone that would have asked. So since then i have applied for 5 other dwp roles (luckily i can apply for anything up to EO due to the pass results on my tests, again found this out by asking someone at the assesment day) and had interviews for 2 of them (still waiting to see how these went) and the others have not reached the end date of the vacancies.
I even knew i was getting the letter to say i was on the waiting list as i waited 2 weeks then rang the newcastle number on the opriginal letter and asked, they also told me when to expect the letter. Amazing what you can find out by just asking questions. I am in a job at the moment but am soon to finish my notice of redundancy so really hope my name comes up soon, the guy i spoke to in newcastle said to ring back this next week and they will try and tell me were i am on the list and maybe i might get some info on the other interviews i have had, so heres hoping!
