Hi All, I had interview for AO 8th march, successful letter 16th march (no mention of a waiting list), disclosure sent back to me on 7th April and phone call 8th April with a start date of 27th April. My problem is...i booked a four day break in june before i had even applied for any jobs and at no point throughout this whole procedure has anyone mentioned holidays to me, admittingly i didnt mention it either however the guy on the telephone said he isn't sure whether they will be able to honour my holiday...arrrrgh..Also, I am still waiting to hear back from several EO interviews and im wondering if i have already started the AO position will i be able to take up EO position if offered? My heads wasted!!!!!

I was informed by Newcastle that if you take up an AO position and they come back to you further down the line and offer you the EO post all you need to do is resign the AO post and you are definitely able to accept the EO position.

I also went for a mass intake selection and interview about 4 weeks ago. Have come home from work (temping) today to find a letter confirming the results of the numeracy and literacy tests but is doesn't say whether I was successful or not overall or on waiting list etc. just that the letter should be produced if I apply for any jobs up to EO grade again within the next 12 months, which sort of indicates to me that I wasn't successful? Any ideas?
Have to admit I was a bit disappointed with the salary though anyway - I wish places wouldn't put the salary range on instead of just the starting salary, always gives me a tiny glimmer of hope that they might offer a bit more!!!!!

You'll get a separate letter about the interview, don't worry.

Thank you! Its the 26th May as I told them I wasnt going to hand in my notice at my current job until I had a written offer of the job and so by the time that has arrived and I officially accept I will then give 4 weeks notice which takes me to around the 26th May! Obviously if it works out to be quicker than that I will tell them I can start sooner! Its an AO position in Cornwall.
Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!
:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!

Oh right thats good congrats - thanks for reply

I just rang them up and I have to resit the literacy and take proof of my letter with me to show ive passed numeracy!

So the EO test is different to the AO literacy tests? Whats different? What kind of errors should I be looking out for?

    Wish me luck

no it's the same sort of test that is used for the aa and ao positions but there obviously must be different examples. the first one i did was a letter from a woman about maternity rights and the second was an internal memo from personnel. lots of spelling errors in the 2nd and also make sure you actually read what is written as if i remember there was a passage that had could when it should have read would (or something similar) and i missed it on the first couple of read throughs. at the first test i think i was a bit stunned and did'nt check stuff like postcode in caps or really read the thing properly - good luck anyway!
