Anyone know how long the training lasts (and what it involves?) as someone on here said it lasts ten weeks. Is that true?
My training will be for an Admin Officer post. The job offer is 30 miles away but the training is local ive been told.0 -
The DWP told me they sent off my disclosure over a week ago, but disclosure scotland have not seen it arrive yet? Is this normal? :S0

I was successful at interview and assesment stage so was then put on a waiting list. after reading this forum i rang them yesterday to find out where i was on the list to be told i was 69th out of 70. They said they had taking on 40 out of that 70 so fingers crossed i hear something soon.0

As for, should a 12 month contract be taken, I'd love to say if you're good, they'll keep you, and that's how it should be. But knowing the *system*, they might have to treat permanent contracts (like they were offering early in the recruitment) with precedence. But I do know this, there are various agencies and organisations who will take on people with a good knowledge of DWP payments in a flash, so at EO level (band C), even if you do only last a year, you'll have extremely marketable skills if you use your loaf and take in every bit of information/training you can get.
I think you're right lili2008,
If I receive a favourable response following my interviews I'm going to use the opportunity to do exactly what you've said; ie show what I'm capable of, learn as much as I can and take advantage of any training they are willing to give me, then if they don't keep me on at least my skills will have been increased and updated and I will have earned some money along the way too!0 -

Damned sensible advice to any temporary workers. There are all sorts of local and central government organisations who need people with experience of the benefits system.0 -
i also applied for irc 60227, someone with the same irc received a call today and is starting on 1st sept. so they are starting to work on them. with regards to progressing further within the organisation, the civil service in general as loads of jobs so you could try, home office, identity passport service, uk border agency, etc etc. to try and get better pay position. good luck and hopefully you will get the call soon.
Hi there,
Thanks for the reply. The only thing that is quite worrying is that this EO position is a 12 month temporary position, and therefore there is a high possibility that I may not be able to carry on the post after this time period, as DWP is recruiting a large number of EO's due to the current economic crisis.
U said u applied for the same role, did they ask u to specify a specific area you would want to work? Others have been asked this question however I werent asked anything of such in my interview. I actually want to be based in stratford, ilford or somewhere nearby.[/QUOTE]
hi mpatel86
i wasnt asked which area or location. just hoping for a job is good enough for me. have been out of work a long time. it is matter of getting your foot in the door and making something of it once you get in there.0
