sorry for the repeated question but does anyone know if DBC centres operate on these new flexi hours as well?

If I'm not going to be customer facing then what will I be doing? Apologies as I should really be able to elicit this information from Newcastle, yet obviously I can't. And the job description is just the standard EO one; managing people etc.

Start next Monday though, which hopefully means only 3 weeks until I can get a salary advance :T

Can anyone let me in on how the flexi time works? My post offered is full time hours between 8 and 8 and 9-1 Sat (do JC's really open Saturdays?)
Anyhow i wondered how the flexi time works. How long is a working day there and how long do you have for lunch?
    Anyone?

I'd imagine that if you're working in a job centre between those hours, you'll be on a fixed rota. i.e. not flexi-time. They need to have rota staff as people need to be there between those hours and not all working 8-4 everyday...

Flexi only works for a business when they are not customer-demand driven

That's not necessarily true - they will have core hours that you will have to work. Generally, these are when the signing on people turn up, so maybe 10-12 and 1-4 or whatever they happen to be. Outside of that you have flexibility to work to your own preference but this will be subject to workload, deadlines etc.

When I was last a manager in the Civil Service I had two staff who were on flexi and they dovetailed perfectly. They both had to be in 10-4 but outside of that they chose their own hours. One always came in at 8 and the other always stayed until at least 6 so we were able to cover at least 10 hours per day.
  • Hi, I'm new to this forum. Can anyone explain what is happening to me.

I applied for a permanent job at the Cwmbran Pensions Centre and attended the tests and interview on 28/06/09.

I then received a letter dated the 14/07 saying I was successful pending the usual checks. I had to complete CRB paperwork and also send proof that I am who I say I am.

Then 2 days later I recevied a further letter dated the 16.07 saying I was successful and placed on a waiting list.

I've contaced Newcastle but to be honest they just skirt around this issue.

Any idea where I stand. One day I was all excitied that I'd got a job and then 2 days later I haven't. What's going on?

I think you had best start getting used to the highs and lows of getting a start date. Just hang on in there and read this forum.

heh, I'm in shock as i write this, but after applying in march this year and receiving my successful letter in april I received a call this afternoon offering me a band c position. It's not customer facing as i'd originally expected but is rather at a benefits delivery office. the man wants me to go in tomorrow and start as soon as possible.

thank you! to be honest with you i had given up on them due to lack of communication. I hope your job comes through soon, but, truthfully i would recommend anyone who receives a successful or waiting list letter to continue applying for other jobs in the meantime. Maybe they've quickened up a little other the last couple of months but don't leave yourself in the position of hanging on for this one opportunity.

    Good Luck all!

After reading your other post's, is the position you have been offered IRC58429 ? Is yes then there might be some light at the end of the tunnel for me.

Congrats to all who have had start dates recently :j
