    Hi
you don't mean job interviews do you or is it work focussed interviews? as I am wondering, are there people out there who get job interviews and do not turn up, given todays economic climate.
You will find tha there are people out there who dont turn up for interviews yes, not everyone wants a job funnily enough. But the comment was actually meant as a joke for Orb. Saying that when you get to work at JCP dont expect everyone you interview wanting you to find them a job there is a minority who dont want to work.

    Hi

I have been told twice that p/t hours were 30. Capita told me at interview & when lady from DWP in Leeds rang to offer me job she also said p/t hours were 30. I suppose depends who you speak to. I will make some enquiries tomorrow when I sign on.

Previously I worked for HMRC for 24 years until made pre-surplus in Feb. Over the years I have done 16 hrs, 21, 30 as well as full time 37. I thought DWP would have been same as long as meets business needs.
I am being allowed to do 3 x 7hrs and a 4hr no problem but it could be your office need you to do 30 hours. At present I only work 16 hours as an AO in another dept.

I applied for the AO position in April 2009. about a week and half later was invited to take the 2 assessments and one the same day was invited to the interview stage as I had passed. Done the interveiw and got a letter around a week and half to 2 weeks later saying "You have successfully passed the interview stage but before we can offer the AO position we will need to do CRB checks" and so fourth. so 3 weeks later i heard nothing and rang DWP back, they siad on 2 different occasions that as the whole country is currently recruiting they are doing thousands of checks and it may take 2 to 3 more weeks. so anyway, now its July 2009 and around a week and half ago I was offered the position and start working with DWP next month.

I was on a waiting list for around 3 months but I wasnt told that I would be put on a waiting list at all by anyone! however When i spoke to someone who works at the job centre they said 2 to 3 months is pretty quick now in recession as so many people have become unemployed and are now signing on... so the job centres have had to employ so many people to handle all the other people who are signing on!! we're going round in circles!! my cousin who applied early last year was on a waiting list for 9 months for an EO position, 6 months into the job he's now applying for the HEO position as adviced by his manager!! so all is looking pretty great for him! LUCKY i say!

I asked re hours when I went to sign on today. Adviser thought you could apply to do less than 30 hrs but as it is small JCP I will be working at there may already be alot of part timers.
Is it the manager at the office you are working at you discuss hours with or H/R?

When did you do your interviews? How long did you have to wait to get offered a job?

Hello, I attended interview in Leeds on 2 June and received THE CALL on Sunday 19 July. Closing date was 6 April & as I didn't get email until 27 May to attend interview I had more or less given up on them. I start on 7 Sept. My adviser at JCP today said things had moved quick for me compared to people who have recently started in her office!

You may wish to read my post dated 23/7/09 6:59am for full timescale of events.

    I just got the call!!!

Here's my timeline (extremely fast compared to some):
    • Applied online - May 7th
    • Selection test - June 8th
    • Interview - June 18th
    • Successful letter (no waiting list) - July 9th
    • Call to offer job - July 27th
I start September 7th as a Benefits Delivery Officer in Walsall. They told me at the interview that they were taking on 600 for a new Benefits Delivery Centre opening in September, so I guess this i why it went fairly quickly.

I also had a successful (waiting list) letter for another AO position in Birmingham/ Solihull, plus 2 interviews for different positions coming up. Don't really know what to do about them. One is for an EO position, so I definitely am going to that interview. The other two AO positions are more likely to lead to a customer-facing position, so I would prefer them to the one I have, but don't want all these different applications to get on top of me!

Also, I am currently on JSA. Does anybody know if I can carry on claiming until then, even though I am not looking for work anymore?

    Naz,
I received a copy of my DS with the same IRC pencilled at the top on 17th July. It arrived in a DWP envelope with a DWP comp slip enclosed. As there was no other information given I can only assume it was confirmation that they have completed this stage of the process. Did you write the DWP address on the DS form? If you did, then this copy is for your info only.

    Hope this helps.

You can continue to claim but you have to pretend you are still looking for work. Stupid I know but that's the way the system works...
