You can continue to claim but you have to pretend you are still looking for work. Stupid I know but that's the way the system works...

Well I am actually looking for part-time weekend work, so I might just put those down as if I applied for full-time jobs.

Do I tell my adviser or keep quiet? I already told him that I'd had a successful letter (don't know why I mentioned it, it just came out). He didn't really say much with regards to me still looking for jobs.

I asked re hours when I went to sign on today. Adviser thought you could apply to do less than 30 hrs but as it is small JCP I will be working at there may already be alot of part timers.
Is it the manager at the office you are working at you discuss hours with or H/R?
Hello I just got a call yesterday and was offered a position I chose the leeds town centre jobcentre and I start a week after you.

    Where will you be working?

Hi, I signed on today and told adviser I had start date for A/O job. Basically she said "So really you are looking for temporary work for few weeks between now & then which there is not much of" I agreed & was told to carry on signing on & JSA would be paid as normal.

    I just got the call!!!

Here's my timeline (extremely fast compared to some):
    • Applied online - May 7th
    • Selection test - June 8th
    • Interview - June 18th
    • Successful letter (no waiting list) - July 9th
    • Call to offer job - July 27th
I start September 7th as a Benefits Delivery Officer in Walsall. They told me at the interview that they were taking on 600 for a new Benefits Delivery Centre opening in September, so I guess this i why it went fairly quickly.

I also had a successful (waiting list) letter for another AO position in Birmingham/ Solihull, plus 2 interviews for different positions coming up. Don't really know what to do about them. One is for an EO position, so I definitely am going to that interview. The other two AO positions are more likely to lead to a customer-facing position, so I would prefer them to the one I have, but don't want all these different applications to get on top of me!

Also, I am currently on JSA. Does anybody know if I can carry on claiming until then, even though I am not looking for work anymore?

Congrats Ferien! - Do you know if they contacted your personal referees prior to getttin the start date?

Good luck with ur other positions- it is a bit of pickle! I'd contact the one you really want, and enquire about possible time scales, if its gonna take too long then you might as well start this one while waiting - nothing to lose I reckon.

It's incredible that they are only now offering you a position when they have already done all the interviewing for the next stage of recruitment in Leeds.

Got my confirming letter through today. Yes, seems they can require me to work between the hours of 8am and 8pm, 9-1 Sat. I guess late finishes will mean late starts and anything over conditioned hours (36?) can be stored as flexi. Cool by me. Especially as they seem to have to give 4 weeks notice of hours which means I can fit in with OH's weird working hours.

I told the vacancy holder which hours I wanted to do and she asked the office and they said ok. I think if you are prepared to do 3 lates and sat morn they accomodate the hours

Hi lil, Glad you have heard at last. I have had to agree to 3 lates and sat morn so so will start at 12 on those days that I have to work till 8 so I have enough flex for lunch time. But I dont think lates are straight away because I have been told to turn up at 9 on my first day and training lasts up to 10 weeks which are normal 9 - 4 training hours so I have worked out it should be nearly Nov before I work late nights:T

    Hey Momma

Is that agreement per month? I wonder how training takes place? Do you have to go away for it or is it in-office shadowing? Well, this time next week I will know a lot more than I do now.

Blimey, 'at leisure' for 15 months. Most of it by choice, latterly in quiet desperation. Having the letter makes it all real.
