the whole process is driving me and my wife nuts.

We have applied for 16 posts between us and so far I have had 3 interviews and her 1. We have not heard a thing about any of the other posts (though in fairness 4 are still not past the closing date) and we had our first interviews nearly three weeks ago.

This email is the first thing either of us has heard as a follow up and this interview was after the EO interviews. I do have a reply address in the email so I might risk a response asking if I can be exempted from the test on the basis that I passed the EO test only 4 weeks ago.

Fingers crossed and here I go.
  • Hi it looks like ive been offered a job. Id almost forgotten about it as it was March i applied, May i received the tests and interview and ive been told this week i'll be starting training soon. I dont know about pre recruitment checks and im not even sure if my refs have been contacted.
I have had my criminal check sent to me a few weeks ago.
Its my least wanted area due to the distance but its a job.
Ive never worked in an office so i really dont know what to expect. Its as an admin officer at the JC.
Can anyone give me any insight, tips or generally tell me all the things to look out for. What does the training entail?
Any advice much appreciated as im concerned I will be out of my depth but i really need the work.
    Thanks

Morning :D I am still waiting and my interview was in March!! lol. My successful letter was April 11th and my pre-recruitment checks letter was dated 29th May. I know that i was 26/141 so i am not even very far down the merit list? I have rung Newcastle many times and keep getting told that i will hear within a week, it has been nearly eight weeks since i got my checks letter! lol. I know that after losing my crb at the end of June (Which i was not told about and i had to find out for myself) they received it again from me on Friday July 10th and i phoned to check they had definitely got it again on Monday July 13th. At this point i was told my checks were now definitely cleared and guess what.... i would hear within a week :rotfl:Still waiting.

Hi,do you know who your vacancy holder is?i would advice you call them instead!

Hi there congratulations:j, enjoy the holiday. I am unsure when to book holidays for (with the children), just incase I miss the call etc.. may I ask you how are your hours divided over the week or is this yet to be confirmed and is 30 hours considered P/T?. Many thanks

Thanks. When I got the call I asked if I could be considered for part time working. She said part time hours are 30 per week. (was also told this by Capita at interview) I have got to mention again on 7 Sept. Don't yet know how will be divided over the week. Ideal for me would be 9-3 but suppose if there is a business need will have to work when they say.

thanks - I have done so now.

I got a reply immediatley to my email and I have to sit the AO test as (apparently) it is scored differently to the EO test. I was a Civil Servant for 10 years until the mid 90s and it was hopelessly disorganised and it seems that nothing has changed.

Hi for anyone who applied for the Derbyshire EO posts - I chased today [2 weeks after interview] and received a phone call saying that the successful candidates should be getting a letter by the end of this week all being well!

I know this is only the start for us all - although they seem to be much better getting us to fill in all the paperwork etc at the interview session.

So to all those lovely people I met on the day [8 July] good luck and maybe I will see you again when we are all given our lovley letters saying 'YES'

Hi! Was this for IRC60301? I'm also waiting to hear about this postion, I went for my interview on the 1st July and if I hadn't of heard anything by the end of this week I would of called them myself! Do you know how many positions is actually available? The people doing the recruitment really had no idea about the specifics.

After reading this thread I know it's going to be a long wait but I'm not the most patient person lol :)

I'm starting to get a bit frustrated and confused... I have been told many different things about the testing and application handling process.

Both myself and my partner applied for AO IRC 60369 and EO IRC 60370 - we both got invites to do the online tests. Upon completing one test we got mails saying we didn't have to do the tests again for the other application. I logged in to check the status because I didn't trust that they would use one score for both - I figured doing it twice couldn't hurt. My partner did not do it a second time.

Only I received an invite to both the EO and AO interviews. He only got an invite to EO(which was the test he did). I have already received a letter stating that I was successful for the AO position and am pending checks. It does not say anything regarding a waiting list.

My partner rang the London and SE number on the card we were given after our interviews and asked about his AO application. He has been told that there was some problems with their system of mails and that contrary to the emails he got he should do the test tonight since they are still interviewing people for that job and they have not moved forward with the selection yet!!!

Adding to that, I rang the number as well to try and find out if I have indeed got a job(pending checks) and was told initially that there was no way to know and people would be ranked and placed on waiting lists etc only after the checks come back - then the woman went to check something with her supervisor and then said if I had gotten the letter I did then my score was high enough that I wont be on the waiting list and will have a job as soon as my checks are back...

It sounds like I got the kind of letter that goes to people that will get a job straight away, however due to the mistakes with the online stuff they have had to re-open the recruitment for the position because of the fairness rules so I'm no longer certain I have a job waiting for me now...

    So confused :o
