Hi first well done everyone hope that all goes well, my DH started a new job yesterday after being made redundant from his previous job but the hours are terrible he took it as it was better than nothing. Then this morning while he is at work he got a succesful letter for AO position please can anyone tell me if its likely that if its an 18 month contract they will keep you on. Thanks.

Hi irisrose - it's impossible to say if he will still have a job after the contract is up - if the economy improves and employment drops they will have to cut numbers of staff. Hopefully they will keep the best of us on.

    Where did he apply?

Hi for anyone who applied for the Derbyshire EO posts - I chased today [2 weeks after interview] and received a phone call saying that the successful candidates should be getting a letter by the end of this week all being well!

I know this is only the start for us all - although they seem to be much better getting us to fill in all the paperwork etc at the interview session.

So to all those lovely people I met on the day [8 July] good luck and maybe I will see you again when we are all given our lovley letters saying 'YES'

    Julia

My advice is to do what benefits YOU the most. If you have to hand your notice in soon after starting, then so be it. But you don't owe anybody any favours and they certainly wouldn't put you over their own business needs, so adopt the same mindset.

Besides, it might be quite some time til you start at DWP...

    Hi lili

Giving sensible advice as usual. I agree with you 100% - everyone must do what is right for their own personal circumstances. If I am offered a permanent role even after I've started I would not hesitate taking it if was right for me.

Hi - I had an interview for AO on the 26th June, however, as yet i have received no letter to say whether i been successful or not - I phoned up dwp yesterday to be told that they are still interviewing people for the post i have applied and that i should wait a fortnight. Today however, i received my crb disclosure which was sent to me by the DWP.

Anyone else been in this situation? do they carry out crb check on everyone regardless if theyve been offered job or not?

Or am i correct in thinking that i will be offered the job however, they can't confirm it till everyone has been interviewed? They havent contacted my current employer for references yet, or even my personal referrences.

Hi there, my own personal impression is that once the CRB stuff is done then you are "on the last lap" - I personally didn't receive my DS form back from the DWP until *after* I had been offered a start date.

As to who gets contacted for what reference - I get the impression that this is based on how liquid the lunch was that they had in Newcastle or alternatively the strength of the recreational herbs that have been available to them that day.

To put it another way: there are very few benchmarks or timescales that people can put on this whole exercise. What applies to one candidate does not bear any relation to what happens to the next.

Do I detect a hint of cynicism here, Orb? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Found out today I'm going to be a Personal Advisor when I've finished my training, somewhere 8-10 weeks down the line.

Good luck to everyone else waiting, hope you hear sooner rather than later.

I'd agree with lili here as well, you could be a couple of months away from being offered a position with DWP, take the job, you can always decide it doesn't suit you somewhere down the line....

This is the same vacancy I'm applying for and wait for this...

...I got an interview tomorrow! That means I'm going as back-up? I don't get this.

    :D:D

There are loose correlations, but you've less chance of working them out than Jack Duckworth has of another accumulator.

But yes, one of thoese loose principles is that if they are doing CRB, they'll be lining you up for a job. It costs money so they don't do it until a certain stage. That's not to say the path into post will be smooth, but it seems to mean you're en route.
