  • thought i would put up my timeline for others to guage!

    selection tests -27 jan
    interview -16 feb
informed i was succesful letter recieved 3 march
crb form sent off - 6 march

telephone call today to ask what was happening - said my references are back (although i know for a fact my personal references havent been contacted yet!) and are just waiting for crb to come - said there was about a 12 day backlog on these at present

am desperate to get back to work after 6 months on the dole

Can i ask what phone number you have for newcastle because the number i have says they don't deal with the references and doesn't know the number for the people who do apparently! I just want to know whether they have received my references! lol

    thanks

    loretta
  • Hi, Does anyone know how long it take them to contact you after they have received the disclosure certificate back from disclosure scotland, because i am going out of my mind waiting for phone calls or a letter! I know they've received it back because i sent them the original copy last week.

    Thanks loretta

If it follows my example, then you will recieve a phone call within days. In my case 3 days.

Hey everyone. I've been reading this thread with much interest cos many of you are in a similar boat to me. Got my successful letter 26th Feb all I've heard from DWP since is that my CRB has been checked and sent back to me for safe keeping which was on the 24th March.
I have no idea if or when I'll be getting a start date. They've been in contact with my references, the suspense is killing me. I don't mind having to wait as long as I know I'm gonna get a job at the end of it. I've no idea if I should be applying for other jobs. Its also pretty embarassing that people keep asking me when I'm gonna be starting as I have no idea. I would phone them and ask but judging by the responses you guys have had I probably won't get anywhere!

So its been a week and you've still not heard. I've not actually been told they've received it and that its been checked yet because i sent it to them on friday. So maybe i'll get a letter back and the original disclosure first. Never known such a mess! everyone seems to be having different experiences though even though when you speak to them they say the same thing. Everyone gets a standard letter! Which is a load of old tosh as we've all been sent different things lol
  • i contacted tel number on my letter today and quoted IRC number, turrns out i was on a list that was combined with another recruitment exercise, so when i was told at interview that 60 got through num 'n' lit tests the worst i expected to be was number 60! turns out me and a colleague (read my prev post 31/03) are nearly double that on waiting list. people i was sat next to during tests were going on to other areas interview straight after, so in effect they had 2 stabs at getting up the list. if i had known i would have applied for both but as i cannot realistically get to the other areas offices didnt bother to apply. why advertise as 2 separate recruitments if they combine on 1 list? and why could we not have been told where we were on list when letter sent in jan? still do not know how it is marked. i got lot higher score than her on tests but we both thought we have had better interviews. she finished 1 place higher than i did and we work in same dwp office. will be phoning tomorrow to see if ,when we were taken on as casuals a CRB check was done as would be waste of time them doing again. neither of us have recd copy of disclosure which is norm practice. needless to say we are now jobhunting...

rang newcastle today (felt frustrated) very helpful lady informed that the jobcentre i have applied for would be in-touch with a date as they are the ones that sort out training and start dates and once that is confirmed the job centre then fax details to newcastle and they then post out confirmation. she informed me that 4 people were due to start training on mon 6th and i assume if on thurs 26th i had said i could give 1wks notice instead of 3 i would have been the 5th so back to waiting. pouncing on the phone now instead of postie!
