Just spoken to the lovely people in Newcastle.

"Sorry I can't help you, everyone will be placed on a waiting list" "If there's ten jobs and 100 pass, we'll take the first ten!".

    I asked why I wasn't informed I would be on a waiting list, just that I was successful;

"It's the standard letter I'm afraid"

Yet some people have received the 'waiting list' letter?

I explained my redundancy situation and that I need to get released in order to get my money, but still no indication of when the job will start and where I am on the 'waiting list'.

It's so frustrating. Why don't they make this clear when they recruit. It's very poor customer service.

So, being told "you have been successful" should have said, "you have now been placed on a waiting list. Sit tight and w'll inform you if there are actually any jobs"

    Can anybody help?!

It takes approximately 20+ days for the CRB check to be completed....& if yours is done then they send you the original copy...till such time I guess it is a waiting game....find out from your refrees if they have received any letters....if they are taking on a batch of people they dont proceed till everyone is clear...so however frustrating it is...still patience it is!!!!

    Cheers

I'm just frustrated about this waiting list malarky, that's all.
I'm sure it'll be sorted soon, I've decided to turn down my other job offer and wait for this- which may be a little mad.

    I have a feeling you'll be OK.

I heard today I've got 3 more EO interviews soon. That's good! Will have to brush up on techniques as I missed a guaranteed appointment under the last exercise by only a couple of points..arrghh!! I'm still on the waiting list for that one, but it's not the waiting list where they wait for references etc, it's the one where you have to wait for someone else to turn down a post or fail references. As I am apparently top of it, there's a possibility I may get one. One thing I did find out this morning that I didn't know before is that if there are 2 people in a joint position on a waiting list, they HAVE to take both. In case anyone else finds themselves in that position.

Does anyone know how long Newcastle hang onto the CRB forms before forwarding them? As I phoned Dislclosure Scotland and they have no receipt of mine and I sent it back to Newcastle 12 days ago.

Does your letter say that they have only twenty days to complete all the formalities? If it does then I am sure they would have sent your forms out.....

Yep, my letter does state that, maybe mines in the queue somewhere then.

Logic has gone out of the window.

Does anyone know what happens if you get put on a list and are on JSA?

I have only just sent an application form in, but am claiming JSA at mo.

Do they expect you to stop signing on while you wait to get to the top of the lisit?

    Fixed term job

You'd only sign off when you accept a job offer. From reading the threads on MSE that could be months after a successful interview.
