Just to update. I called Glynnis again today at Newcastle to chase up my checks being cleared (As it has been over the weekend and after what has happened i am now on the case!). She was not there this morning and so i left a message. As i had not heard, i called again this afternoon (they love me im sure :rotfl:). Again Glynnis was busy and so i left another message but in fairness she has just called me back (About 2.5 hrs later) to say my checks are cleared and she has passed it onto 'the business' for someone to call me and hopefully it will be this week!! lets hope so :j

Any more news and i will update. Whether i will hear this week or not i dont know? but all i can say is the same as everyone else which is that if your crb has been sent to Newcastle and you do not hear within 2 weeks THEN CALL THEM AND CHASE IT. I know they are busy but i called a couple of times over the last 3 weeks and was fobbed off every time until last Friday when i managed to speak to the lovely Glynnis. If i had not called again on Friday my checks would still be sitting around going un-noticed with no crb in the file and no job for me :(

CONGRATULATIONS to all who have had their call this week/end of last week, there are too many to mention but well done to all of you :)

fingers crossed...when it gets sent over they do call quite quickly remember we have the same ref..i was in your position a few weeks ago callin every day with no luck..what job centre have u said you want to go to??? Once you get 'the call' the waiting seems like history because you have something to look forward to...I hope they call you soon, the lady who called me was really nice in comparison to some of the newcastle lot who seem to want to get you off the phone..

    GOOD LUCK

Glad you got the office you were after. Hopefully things are moving now on IRC57875 - that's you and Orb sorted. Me, RobY (he hasn't posted for a while) and Cadellin to go now. Should hear soon.

    Congrats again.
  • I'm very new to this thread but recent events have got me seething and it's provided some solace to know I'm not the only one out here.
I would be interested to know if anyone has a similiar story to mine?
I applied for an EO position in Stockton ((IRC59185) before the 14/4/09 closing date. I attended the literacy and numeracy tests (on 26/4/09) and passed. I attended the interview (7/5/09) and was told each interviewee would be scored and the highest ranking would be offered positions. From memory there were around 72 positions (both full and part time) to be filled.
I received a letter advising I had been successful and pre-recruitment checks would be made prior to an official offer. The letter was dated 27/5/09.
I had been told by staff at the DWP Jobcentre when I signed that these checks can take quite a while so I relaxed and waited for the job offer, confident there was nothing in my past that would prevent me being offered.
AS the weeks turned to months I began to get a little uneasy. I contacted the Employee Services Rescourcing dept. in Newcastle and talked with Janice on 9/7/09. She explianed I had been sent the wrong letter, and that I was 37th on a waiting list. She also told me that only 30 positions had been filled. I asked her to send me the correct letter which arrived today - and was dated 8/6/09.
I don't normally go for conspiracy theories but what happened between the two dates to change my status? Janice told me I was not the only one that this had happened to?
I am livid since I fully expected to be offered the post after the original letter arrived and stopped searching for work. I've lost 7 weeks and goodness knows how many job opportunities because of this.
Sorry this may be turning into a rant. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone else affected by mistaken job offers from DWP.

I think we should all still come on here and share our experiences I am so used to speaking to everyone on this thread now
Too right mommarat-there has been a lot of sadness and gladness shared on this forum, so many highs and lows, twists & turns, I am almost waxing lyrical now. I will start gushing with maudlin sentimentality in a minute, so I will attempt to pull myself together. Seriously though, this forum has been a lifeline to everyone. To most of us, it has become part of the day. I for one would certainly miss it big time!:eek:

I was at the Stockton recruitment excercise which was a month before yours for EO too. No mention of a waiting list on my letter and I received the crb etc back pretty quick but still no position yet. I was told 50 people are needed as soon as checks are cleared and I'm apparently one of them. Still nothing though, looks like the Tees Valley is moving slowly.

Then I was told the Tees Valley region is now making JCP staff redundant therefore I had to choose different places to work in South Wearside.

...... Then a few days later I was told by a different person to ignore that ^ and that 50 people are needed for Tees Valley as soon as checks cleared.............

Yes, its all conflicting information and all very confusing. I have no idea where I stand and all I can wish you is luck.

:eek:I find it hard to take in that there could be any redundancies, with today`s forecast that unemployment is set to reach between 3.2 + 3.6 million by this time next year. Today it stands at 2.2 million. I try to ignore any negativity. In this case, I would be definately taking the second person seriously, and just assume that the 1st person had had some sort of head injury!! ;);)

Hi folks. I received my call today for the Exec Officer post (West Midlands/Black Country vacancies) and start Monday 20th July. Finally!!! After over 3 months of waiting!!!

I received my letter confirming i was successful at interview on 24th April after being interviwed on the 4th April. My recruitment checks i know for a fact were completed 5 weeks ago today.

I contacted the DWP in Newcastle last week again to try and get info on what was happening and I think I have an explanation also for why it takes so long. From what I was told they try and start people in batches of about 12 or so in various branches. So they have to wait for a batch of so many people to be available for that branch. On top of this they also then have to wait for a Trainer to be available for that branch to commence the training. SO this is why i was told it takes so long after the checks are done.

Also if you said you were immediately available for work this will go in your favour because apparently they tend to contact these people first as they can get them started quicker.

Myself and two other friends who all originally applied March/April time have had our phonecalls in the last couple of weeks so i think there is some movement now!! Dont think you'll be waiting much longer!!

    Well done debzyg  .
It's seems to be a good day today for people getting 'the call' - well yesterday actually!
Maybe things are starting to move faster. Let's hope so.
