DWP employment waiting list

Oh for ##### sake. DWP in Newcastle lie to you when you phone. Be warned! My recruitment team leader (name and number on successful letter dated 11/05/09) has just told me that a) they are STILL awaiting references and b) they were waiting for crb from Disclosure Scotland. This is total garbage as my references were contacted and replied to DWP on 13/05/09 and my CRB was back with them on 06/07/09. I explained this to her and she said well "can you send us your CRB?" What the hell for? On my CRB application form I put Newcastles address, it was returned to them twice (once because the stupid XXXXXXXX's didn't fill in their part!) and they actually sent me the original with a compliment slip saying "please retain for your records"!
I said to this so called "Team Leader" that she wasn't giving me information on my application but just some generic rubbish and insisted that I speak to someone actually doing the checking for my IRC. I was told "We do give you specific information on your application, so please don't say we dont OK?" and then put on hold for ages before finally speaking to someone on my checking team who said that ALL my checks where in fact complete, references were back, CRB done, and my details emailed to the vacancy holder on 09/07/09 who will call me in due course. They don't know when but within the next 5 weeks.
So, DO NOT BELIEVE DWP NEWCASTLE! They lie, as has been proven above. Not only that, but they are obviously under stress which is leading to them being quite rude and far from helpful.
The wait continues.....0 -
Hi everyone,
I have never posted before but I am a regular reader and have always found the forum to be very informative and supportive. I was wondering if anyone is on the waiting list for IRC 56347 Essex. I applied online last night for positions in the South Essex area thinking they were different centres thanI had applied for previously but turns out they are offices that had been my 1st and 2nd choice. The only difference appears to be the working hours which are now between 8am-8pm, I'm curious to see if many people had been contacted, as I wonder why they just haven't asked people on the waiting list would they consider different hours. DWP newcastle have said that the lists will not be merged but my worry now is in the future there will be 2 seperate waiting lists and won't they be more likely to take people off the list that have applied for positions with more flexible hours. Seems even more waiting around now to see if I get an interview this time around. Don't know if I can take much more..
PS congratulations to all of you that have finally made it0 -

Congratulations to everybody who has had a job offer!:D
Im still waiting to know if I even passed the interview!
just wondering though, do they contact your references or not?
I was asked to fax over my p45 to verify employment history, which I did. My refs were contacted also- one of them twice by different people. Maybe it depends on the checker or area...
One day I will be a [STRIKE]respectable[/STRIKE] Civil Servant.Until then, I will be a secret MSE poster :shhh:0 -

It was the first thing they did in my case. HMRC emailed my references on the day I recieved my succesful (no waiting list) letter. Over 2 months after contacting them, they have JUST completed their checks. Well that's according to one contact at Newcastle. It seems you get different information from different people there.
I THINK I am just waiting for THE CALL. But being a natural sceptic, I expect I will find out in a month or so that they are still waiting for something!!! :-(0
