I applied for the EO position this weekend in Leics/Northants district. I wondered, what are the tests like for this position, any clues to questions, or level of questions asked. Is it a maths test and an English test? Thanks,0

I got the call this morning 10:17 WOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
The vacancy holder was such a nice lady. She wanted me to start tomorrow. I could not because I have to give 2 weeks’ notice to my employer and got a holiday booked on 30th July.
She said because I could not start tomorrow therefore I had to wait for the next intake in September and would get a call from Newcastle regarding this. As soon as I heard "Newcastle" my heart dropped. I asked her would I definitely be called for the September intake she said yes nearer the time they will be in touch.
I was just wondering what if they fill up the vacancy at tomorrow’s intake, would that mean they won’t offer me a job in September?? Just to be on the safe side I got her number and name. She said if there were any problems to contact her :0)
After what I was told few days ago from Newcastle… I have come to the conclusion they just give random garbage every time you ring regarding a update. You will get a call eventually and do not believe everything Newcastle tells you.0 -

Congratulations,
:T:T:T
I'd keep in touch with the person who called you rather than Newcastle and give her a ring when you come back off holiday to check the position, at least this suggest you'll be top of the list for September.

I don’t think there is a merit list for my post. Basically there was no interview either. It was an AO position is a contact centre and I did telephone role plays instead of an interview. Yeah I will be ringing her every 2 weeks until September.
The last thing I want is to give my notice to current employer and come September and they say we can’t offer you a job because the post has been filled. Can they do this? Has this happened to anyone?0 -
I've just had the call regarding this vacancy (Wolverhampton) and informed them that I've taken the position in Coventry.
Good luck to the others waiting for the same vacancy you should hear today!0 -

Thats a lie actually, that was from my interview, was only just over three weeks from the success letter... So hopefully you won't wait long0

;)Hello mommarat- been on holiday, just got back. I withdrew from the Cambridge offer. When I eventually came down after the initial euphoria, my head started working out the logistics. Also the arrival of the offer letter confirmed what I was thinking. It was going to cost in the region of £200 per month fuel costs. 3 hours travelling. To top that off, I would have to use the Park & Ride to get into Cambridge. The offer letter, states quite clearly, that although initially you agree your hours with your line manager, this can be changed by giving you just 4 weeks notice. It also goes into detail about business hours, which are now M-F 8-8 & Sat 9-5. This would have caused big problems with the Park & Ride element. So, in the cold light of day, also bearing in mind the winter, it was just not feasible. It was a tough decision, but, I believe, the right one. I did explain to HR at Newcastle, and they were fine about it. 2 days later, I received a success, no waiting list, undertaking pre employment checks letter for the exercise for my home county. When I was talking to staff at my jobcentre on Friday, when I signed on, they informed me that they are looking to take on AO`s at my 1st preference, which is only 20 minutes away. Jobcentre there is 2 minute walk from car park. Hopefully I will look back on the decision to decline Cambridge, as a sound one! I will now have to get in a fresh supply of bubbly, to replace the other one. I can almost hear the cork popping:jHope you hear soon;)0
