    I'm not aware of a seperate clothing allowance and can't find any info about this on direct.gov. Do you have a link to this info at all?
    Or does anybody?
    I need all the help i can get. I'm already broke and have no idea how i'll survive til the 1st pay day! I'm not entitled to in work credit as I haven't been on benefits for long enough.

    I think that you have to ask, and I believe it has something to do with a discretionary fund. You need to ask about it tomorrow at the Job Centre.
    As far as I am aware it is not on the website, you have to ask your advisor about it, and he/she should steer you in the right direction.

    Everything is on the internet..

    Job Grant:

    ADF:

    Adviser Discretion Fund (ADF) is available to anyone who has been claiming Jobseeker's Allowance. It is also available if they are on New Deal.

    ADF is there to remove barriers to work. It is solely at the discretion of a Personal Adviser as to whether a jobseeker can get it or not.

    What needs to be considered is whether a person would be unable to start work without the barrier being removed.

    Typically, ADF payments are made for things such as:

    * Interview clothes. Without decent interview clothing, a jobseeker may not secure employment;
    * Tools. A jobseeker may have found work, but may need help in purchasing tools;
    * Clothing to start work. They may require a particular item of clothing that a jobseeker may not have;
    * Travel expenses until first wage;
    * Birth certificates to use as I.D. when registering with an agency.

    ADF can be used for anything that will remove a barrier to someone starting work.

    The maximum amount that can be used over a 12 month period is £300.

    You should have been informed about ADF at your six month interview. It is mandatory that you are informed at that stage.

    If you want to discuss using ADF, then you need to make an appointment at your local office to see a Personal Adviser, who will discuss your reasons for needing it, and then make a decision.

    Ask them about help with travelling expenses as well, when I signed on initially I was told I would be entitled to a bus pass when I restarted work, I'll be asking for it next week!

    I would have been happy with a definite 'Yes, we will be taking you on, but we need to sort out other things before we can give you a date'

    I think most of us would have been happy with something like that...
    Do you know what number you were n the merit list for the Black Country recruitment?

    Nice to have friends in high places :rotfl:

    I'm going with the Coventry position, might take a second look at B'ham if that gets offered.

    Wouldn't mind knowing where I was on the list though.....:confused:

    I applied for the EO position this weekend in Leics/Northants district. I wondered, what are the tests like for this position, any clues to questions, or level of questions asked. Is it a maths test and an English test? Thanks,
    keep smiling,
