DWP employment waiting list

Thanks Litts but no, the nearest JCs apart from the ones I chose, involve an expensive commute that would not be value for time/money at all, especially if weekends and later hours come into play...
I had thought about working in other JCs when I was getting really worried about unemployment, but, with the way the whole thing has been dealt with and the way it has worked out, I am working on the principle that this is just not meant to be for me. So from the time I put in my application on 9th feb this year, to now, I have wasted 5 months on the DWP... time to look elsewhere...
I do feel a bit silly now about jumping at every phone call in the hope it was them :embarasse
But I do want to say thank you to you lovely people for helping me so much and just being here to talk to and rant with.. you are all amazing and DWP is crazy if they don't employ you all very soon! :T
Just keep putting the applications in!
Don't blame you for jumping at the phone, think we're all guilty of it at the moment.
Really should'nt be like this when you've been offered a job (maybe after interview but not after you've got it!!!)
Thanks very much for your comment, been nice to talk to everyone.0 -
I am thinking of writing to the consumer programme " you and yours" about this. for those who dont know it is radio fours lunchtime flagship, similar to Watchdog but obviously on radio and broadcast daily. If we joined together and sent co-ordinated e-mails maybe thet could geta response and some answers. Anyone else interested?

I spoke to Newcastle 2 times today. I got good news the first time and dreadful the second.. I wish I never rang now.
In the last few days I spoke to checking team who told me my checks have been completed and paperwork was sent back (2nd July) to the lady in charge of my exercise. Today afternoon I spoke to checking team again (just to be on the safe side) who again confirmed that they were complete and sent back on 2nd July. I was happy hearing this, but it was too good to be true so I rang again, this time the actual person in charge of my exercise.
About 4.40pm, surprisingly she answered the phone (she never does). She seemed rather awkward, so I got the conversation going and asked for an update on a start date. First she said the business will get in touch with me when a vacancy arises subject to the interview merit list. I told her I never had any interview and there was no mention of a merit list on my letter because I did telephone role plays. She got a little confused and then tells me the checking team is undergoing my checks (she said there not complete??) I told her checking team have confirmed they are complete and the paperwork is with you……….. She says “ok, now” and puts the phone down. At this point I’m thinking is she for real??
I call back and the phone just rings (no answer). I am in two minds as to what is going on here?
I then ring checking team who say all is well and checks are definitely cleared they have even given me dates on my crb, employer references and when the paperwork was sent back to her.
Next step, anyone?0 -
Dear chi chi that is out of order, at the end of the successful interview letter they say we look forward to working with you in the future. so what the hell is this disgusting0

mmmmhhhhh. the DWP really need to explain the procedure to us. they just seem to make it up as it goes along. they need to tell us if there is a waiting list what position we are, and which office or offices will be likely to fill vacancies. what is the merit list, on what basis do they implement this. by sending us these standardised vague successful at interview letters really tells us nothing. we have lives and are trying to better them by getting ourselves back into the workforce, some of us have been waiting nearly half a year, time that can be better spent doing good. please dwp get your act together, i wish some of them are reading this thread, knowing what we are going through just wanted to put my two pence worth0 -

I would have told you sooner but my laptop has 'died', so I'm finding it hard to get online at the moment
Good luck to everyone else and here's hoping that you get the call soon :beer:0 -
Well, with all the good news that is going on in here I guess there had to be some bad...
I have a received an email from DWP again today... and it says
"The vacancy holder tells me that your choices are blah, blah and blah and at present they have all the band b's they need for those offices. There are 35 other candidates in a similar position to yourself.
If the situation changes and vacancies become available then we will contact you.
thanks"
Looks like i am out of the running... unless someone quits and none of the other 35 candidates want to take the role in the next 12 months..
I wonder if the other 35 candidates know they are in that postition also??
Additionally they have ended the email with a lovely email address and phone number I can contact as they "welcome any feedback about this product or any other service we have provided for you"
hmmm where do I start?
so sorry to hear this, but do not lose hope, you know when its dark it is easier to see the stars, and remember Julietormesby had a similar experience and now has a start date. Patience, though it can be taxing, is a virtue.0 -
Yesterday the day was going well with 3 of our posters Julietormsby, downshifted and smirky guy all getting THE CALL - a hat trick as Juliet called it! But how quickly it all turned bad with Chi Chi's news and from then on it was all doom, gloom and despondency.
I thought we had just turned the corner.

I am disgusted with some of the things I have read on here today! Congrats to Julietormsby, Downshifted, and Smirky Guy, but the treatment Chi Chi and at150 have received is just plain out of order. I am now beginning to wonder if it might be worth informing Yvette Cooper about the behaviour and competency of her department.0

Congratulations to all those who have received start dates. Hope it all goes well for you. It has been a long, hard slog. To those people that are not yet posted, hang in there. It just HAS to be worth it in the end. I was actually successful in 3 exercises for AO. The first one (which was the furthest away) sent me a success letter, waiting list, but curiously, also undertaking pre employment enquiries. Bit of everything in that one. However, exactly 5 weeks from the date of the letter, I received a call offering me a post, and start asap. I had to withdraw from that, as it would have involved a 3 hour commute per day (including Park & Ride) and £200 per month travel costs. They were okay about it at HR in Newcastle. The second one was success, waiting list letter. Not heard a peep about that. Not too bothered about that one, as again, it involves a lengthy commute. The third one (which I wanted from the start, was my home county). Sods law dictated that it could not be the first to respond, as I would not have applied for the other two. I received a success letter, and undertaking pre employment enquiries. I was obviously over the moon about this one, as 10 out of twelve offices on the preference sheet, are within a short drive of me. I informed the checking team at Newcastle, that my checks had been completed in an earlier exercise, and quoted the IRC. So that is the state of play at the moment. My success letter from this exercise was dated 24th June, and from what I can see, they do not undertake pre employment enquiries unless a post is imminent. Simply because it costs money, regarding CRB. I hope that I am not wrong in this. I have not seen anyone else mention this exercise on here, but it was IRC 58728 Beds/Herts. After 6 months on JSA, I want to try life out on the other side of the desk, as I am sure many of you do. After going through the ringer, and reading the posts on this site, it will be so easy to understand when a job seeker comes in, and states `I have appled to the DWP for a job`. This, I believe, is where you put your arm around their shoulder etc... Anyway, good luck to all, and thank goodness for this forum.0
