Congratulations Julietormesby :D, your's and Lili's story shows persistance really works.
It looks like thing's only get done if you chase up the DWP, if you rely on them to do something you'd be waiting forever!

Just a quick update for anyone that applied for IRC58123 Benefit Delivery officer up at Stockton in the North-East.

I'm still the same number on the waiting list as I was back in April after the interview. The woman I spoke to today said that 20 positions have been filled at Stockton, but none were filled from the waiting list

I think I'm just going to give up having this in my mind as viable employment...it's been a shambles from day 1 and is highly unlikely to happen.

This is such an odd situation!

The very organisation that tries to get people into work takes so bl00dy long to employ people.

I can understand (to a certain degree) the actual interview process taking a long time but to take months to employ someone when they've offered them a job takes the pi$$!!!

And then to find a 127 page thread on it with tons of people in the same boat is astonishing!!!

They really do need to buck their ideas up!

Completely agree with you there Litts!

I have been offered a job today as a Hotel receptionist.. it is minimum wage and terrible working hours but, without knowing how much longer I have to wait for a start date with DWP, I can't turn it down.

Just hoping that the DWP calls really soon... My vacancy holder has apparently had my details for two weeks according to Newcastle, so not a really long wait so far on that side, but definitely longer than the "few days" I was told that I would be waiting.

but more calls seem to be coming in now for everyone so let's hope the good news keeps coming :)

i am !!!!ed off now.....i have found out this morning by email from someone in newcastle that my checks have been completed/cleared and passed to the local recruitment team in my area on the 6th July ..thats great.

however... i am currently 40th (yes 40th! on the merit list) and they will only offer positions strictly in merit order. as far as i was aware there were 17 positions available when i applied!

There was NO mention of any waiting list on my succsussful letter, am i stupid or doesn't successful mean you got the job! i stopped looking for other jobs when i got the letter i guess i better start looking again, god knows when i will get a call if at all....thanks for the months of torture DWP

    Hi hurryup,

About a week or so ago we had the same malarky from DWP. We had successful letters (not waiting list) and told they had two lists and we were on the second list and we were told we were on a waiting list and if nothing came up they would tear thelist up and start again. This was from the same woman who rang today offering the start date.

I would suggest you ring Newcastle and ask what was the name of the person they forwarded your details to and then the phone number. (I suspect they play off one another). Once you have this information you can then ring them and take it from there.

Chin up we have been there before. Good Luck.

i just e-mailed the guy on my success letter today and he replied really quickly but only told me the standard stuff that my application is going through pre-employment checks and i have to give 4-6 weeks for this process and if successful it is then passed to job holder. so standard reply but they did respond quickly, which isn't a bad thing i suppose.

I'd take the receptionist job and then jack it in when the DWP actually call you. Should only be a week's notice and then at least you'll have money coming in until you start...

After an interview on March 14 and a successful letter on March 23 I finally had the phone call today and start training for personal adviser in Exeter on 4 August! Hooray
Hope this gives hope to everyone who is waiting patiently :D

The local HR people seem lovely - much better than Newcastle where they must be totally overwhelmed

    Congratulations!

Another one today. Can we make it a hat trick?

''that was not the way it worked and i will be contacted when there is a vacancy''
