I've just had another look at the DWP jobs section again, www.dwp.gov.uk/jobs

There's another round of positions been posted this morning and yesterday, Black Country, West Midlands (Staffs area), North Wales, Halifax, Essex, Leicestershire and London.

Is this another top-up exercise for these areas?

Maybe they should post a link to this forum together with the vacancies!
I have seen these too so hopfully should hear soon:rolleyes:

I have been told today by Newcastle that all my checks are complete and my paperwork has been sent to the business. Does anyone have an idea of timescal now?

    Cheers for any help

i am in the same position as you and have been told that they will contact the candidates in merit list order, so the time scale can vary. DWP newcastle can give you your position on the merit list but it can take a lot of chasing

How frustrating that must be for you :( !! Maybe there are more than 17 positions available. It does seem a small amount of personnel required. I was told they didn't know how many they would require - it depended on a lot of different factors.
    You never know!!

I can only hope that that is the case and there are more than 17 positions available, back to the waiting game i suppose could be tommorow could be months, just when i thought i was almost off this rollercoaster eh? hope you all here something soon

This is such an odd situation!

The very organisation that tries to get people into work takes so bl00dy long to employ people.

I can understand (to a certain degree) the actual interview process taking a long time but to take months to employ someone when they've offered them a job takes the pi$$!!!

And then to find a 127 page thread on it with tons of people in the same boat is astonishing!!!

They really do need to buck their ideas up!

I got a call yesterday saying that all of my checks were complete and they would like me to start work on the 27th July. I said I would like the weekend to think about it before giving them a definite answer and they said that would be fine.

(The reason being that I have a written offer for another job but have yet to be given a start date, as their pre-employment checks have yet to be completed. I should get a call either today or tomorrow asking me to start next week, but If that job doesn't come through I would like to go ahead with the DWP's offer).

Is there a chance that by delaying my decision I could lose out on securing the DWP vacancy? I was told there were 50 vacancies and that I was near the top of the list. Would I get bumped down that list as a result of not accepting their offer straight away?

Any advice or info much appreciated!

Just called Newcastle for an update and was told my checks are completed and were passed to the business for which I applied.

Does anyone know how long it takes from here onwards?

hi, can you please elaborate on 'use of flexi, many thanks

I have worked for DWP in the past and flexi is flexable working.
If you work more than a stardard day 7.25, say 8 hours you can build it up and when you have enough time/flexi you can have a day off. Or go home early, aslong as you clear it with your manager.
