    Hi Chi Chi,

Try and find out who your vacancy holder is, if no one from Newcastle will tell you then try ringing yourlocal job centre and ask them for the phone number of HR. Get local vacancy holder to confirm she has or has not got the papers and take it from there.

    Good ere init!
This is exactly what I have done and eventually found the vacancy holder. Either ask for HR as stated or the district (head) office, you will find someone evenually who will answer your queries and they are more forthcomming than Newcastle with the infomation you need.

Well, with all the good news that is going on in here I guess there had to be some bad...

I have a received an email from DWP again today... and it says

"The vacancy holder tells me that your choices are blah, blah and blah and at present they have all the band b's they need for those offices. There are 35 other candidates in a similar position to yourself.

If the situation changes and vacancies become available then we will contact you.

    thanks"

Looks like i am out of the running... unless someone quits and none of the other 35 candidates want to take the role in the next 12 months..

I wonder if the other 35 candidates know they are in that postition also??

Additionally they have ended the email with a lovely email address and phone number I can contact as they "welcome any feedback about this product or any other service we have provided for you"

    hmmm where do I start?

absolutely gutted for you, i thought i was having a bad day, i hope you are going to leave some nice feedback:rolleyes:

Can anyone explain to me how they can start another recruitment ie Black Country EO, when no-one has been posted from the previous recruitment, the one I am waiting for. I hope they know what they are letting themselves in for. They may start by Christmas.....not!

    Oh no :(

Anyway you can change to a different office?

I'm lucky, the job I've been successful for is a permanent finance admin role based at Companies House in Cardiff (DWP have a floor in the building) so no choices on what job centre I want to work at. Makes it easier but also longer to get a start date...

Thanks Litts but no, the nearest JCs apart from the ones I chose, involve an expensive commute that would not be value for time/money at all, especially if weekends and later hours come into play...

I had thought about working in other JCs when I was getting really worried about unemployment, but, with the way the whole thing has been dealt with and the way it has worked out, I am working on the principle that this is just not meant to be for me. So from the time I put in my application on 9th feb this year, to now, I have wasted 5 months on the DWP... time to look elsewhere... :)

I do feel a bit silly now about jumping at every phone call in the hope it was them :embarasse

But I do want to say thank you to you lovely people for helping me so much and just being here to talk to and rant with.. you are all amazing and DWP is crazy if they don't employ you all very soon! :T

You would obviously think that wouldnt you? Well the Tees Valley certainly don't work like that. I went on a recruitment excercise in April for EO, passed, got letter saying subject to checks we will put you in a position etc etc (no mention of waiting list), a week later I received my police check from Newcastle (so dwp obviously had it first cos they sent it to me).... all running smoothly then I hear nothing for a while. I phoned up recently to be told that my area now has redundancies!!! A recruiting excercise that involves redundancies????? unbelievable.

Then to top it off, there are people who went on a later recruitment excercise in May, after mine, who have got positions already.

Then I get a letter asking if I would like to choose other regions to work in.

I have no idea what they are doing, I simply don't.

Oh !!!!!! Chi Chi. What a despicable thing to do.

You're not silly to jump at phone calls at all. We've all been doing it, due to the crappy way it's all been handled.

I really HOPE you get the call soon. From what we all know from this thread, there's no rhyme or reason behind the way they act. Let's hope it works in your favour.

In the meantime, yes, put every effort into other jobs. Don't forget you're on the list for 12 months and frankly, they are crazy if they don't employ YOU.
