That's excellent advice. I agree if you're told that your checks have been signed off by Newcastle then it's all down to what happens at local level. You have to find out their details and contact them until you get an answer.

I can't emphasise enough, just outspeak them. In perfectly calm tones, INSIST that they give you that info. If they won't, ask if there's anyone else you can speak to who might know a bit more. This implicitly means their line manager, but they don't know you know that. So if they say no again, ask if it's possible to speak to their line manager. If they say no, politely ask who their line manager is. If they refuse to tell you, they are in 'malpractise' territory, so you can get a bit harsher. This is the point where you ask again for the local job manager while reminding them that it's the easiest option, everybody's happy.

This never happened to me, btw. I was lucky enough to deal with pleasant, helpful, and (latterly) competent people. But it sounds like some of us are coming up against nightmares.

Just feel like saying goodnight all, and I hope more of us get "The Call" tomorrow.

In retrospect I wish I'd had mine sent to me. The idiotic 'outstanding problem' that delayed it could have been easily solved by me, I wouldn't have lost it (not that mine was lost, but it seems to happen enough times to people) and I would have sent it back to DWP by recorded post so I knew exactly when it had got back to them.

    Hindsight is a wonderful thing:rolleyes:

GracePsalms: BTW I got a call for what I think was the AO central London today. Hope this means you've got one, or will do soon.

Thanks Lili, was out so just catching up with the thread now. Disclosure Scotland have never received my CRB so it'll be a while before my checks are cleared. I called Newcastle a couple of weeks ago and explained that DS had not received my form and was told it would be resent. I called DS again this week and was told they had still not received my form, so I called Newcastle yesterday and let them know about this and was told it would be resent again. I'm going to call DS again to make sure it's been sent but i'm getting really fed up with this now
BTW: Congrats to everyone who has recently been given a start date. :T

:rolleyes: How utterly annoying. That's severe p*ssing you about. Time to insist on speaking to someone higher up the food chain, it really is.
